Why is the outfitting soooOOooOOO bad?

I quite enjoyed Odyssey so far till I had to change the fit of my Cutter for the CG.

Starting with the hardpoints, I wanted to put on my stored hardpoints. I couldn't find my stored stuff till I went all the way back to the main screen, hit stored modules and then equipped the mining laser. Then I had to go aaaaaaall the way back to the start, go to storage and then find the mining laser and fit it.

I had to do that 7 times for all the hardpoints by the 7th hardpoint I was swearing at the screen so much my son was wondering if I was OK.

WHO, I mean WHO, in their right frame of mind approved this? I work in software design and if my UX designer showed me this, I'd ask them if they were high.
There's NO WAY, that anyone who actively plays the game would think that "yeah I like to do 10 clicks to fit one module instead of 2". Pro stuff.

I am now fitting the utils. 4 SB to go, wish me luck...

There is no more easy option in EDO to switch or get from stored inventory. You really need to go to your inventory box, outfit, quit and go in again. They took out the option to use one from inventory as in Horizions possible. I don't why they changed this behave. It never worked out to optimize PCs Games for Consoles. They work the complete differ way. I really hate this kind of outfiiting myself too.. I need to get your eyes close on it if you not want to buy a module in store if you access to your store box.

Also, when replacing modules, you only get the option to sell the module, not to store. You have to do this in 2 steps, first manually storing the module, then put the other one in the empty slot.

You do get the option, but it's this teeny tiny little tickbox down in the bottom right corner that enjoys resetting itself and shouldn't even exist to begin with.

That what happens when:
1. the feature is outsourced to people who just don't know and care about UI only
2. the implementation has been accepted by people who probably also care about fresh UI only
As a result the sense has been lost in between.
One experienced player.

How many people in GB play this game? They could invite one experienced player down to the office to "re-outfit" a ship, and see how he likes it.
They could buy him lunch and give him one of those ship posters or something.

Problem solved - the new outfitting UI would have never made it out of the gate.

But that would require said player signing more NDAs than people who work at Area 51.

Paper doesn't grow on trees, y'know!?!

Yep - almost sold a G5 module by accident earlier, how someone decided to leave the toggle on "sell" is beyond me. I managed to get it back somehow but trying to find it and trial-and-error clicking on various buttons eventually brought it back. I couldn't tell you though how I actually did it.

Not to mention that every action takes now at least 3x as many button presses. It's the worst I've ever seen in terms of UI and not just in computer games, anywhere.

You Sir are not wrong... this needs to go Pronto!!

I would hazard a guess that the entirety of the new UI has been designed to be console and controller "friendly" and with that in mind, they have screwed over everyone else.

I am sorry but I play also with a xbox controller on PC and I don't think that's good reasoning.
Console gamers will still need to go back to the main menu every time > storage > module > outfit > etc

In the old menu you could just select buy or transfer and you're good. Even with a gamepad it was far easier.

Excluding the bugs that will one day be fixed, the new Outfitting UI is the worst part about Odyssey. Followed closely by not being able to remove modifications from suits/guns.

Please don't... it's ten times worse to use as a controller user than with a mouse. These are not the scapegoats you are looking for!

I use a Xbox controller on PC, and Horizons was perfectly fine; both for the maps and outfitting

Now, in Odyssey, I (have to) use a combination of controller and mouse (use mouse to speed some things up) in the maps, I haven't touched outfitting much because that's just dog poo.
