Modes Why no mode exclusive content?

Jesus. Can you wrap your mind that I cannot see that its you who is doing the damage?

Heck can you wrap your mind that PVP means bupkis in this game other than as entertainment between people? Even if people are in Open you STILL cannot see who is doing the damage except in certain situations...

Yes you can. Somebody who is from the same geographical location will eventually get instanced with them to their surprise.

You are blocked.. You will NOT see them.. yet they are in Open.. their connection is poor, you will not see them... yet they are in Open... a myriad of reasons... they are in Open... but you will NOT see them.

I didnt challange you, you said that I am a coward because I kill weaker ships, I told you that I am open for retaliation by you or anyone else. You have options.

I gave you an example of cowardnece when someone undermines from SOLO anonymously. I have no way of retaliation. You are going to damage my faction, and all I can do is clean your mess without the ability to stop you. Damn it, I dont even know who is doing it. Tomorrow you will do the same, and again I am running after you. I have only something to loose and you have only something to win.

Read above

Even if you knew who was doing it, you'd still have to carry those buckets to fix it. You've put willful blinders on in an attempt to shoe horn some relevance for PvP. It simply does not follow that a game of filling buckets should accommodate a one dimensional PvP outlook. You have the tools to maintain your Favored Faction, the problem is here, that the tool is not the Hammer, you've been forging. You're going to need a wrench to tighten the bolts, hammers won't do.

Mode specific content is a bad idea pure and simple. As I see it, private and open already has mode specific content with wings and MC, so it would be nice if FD introduced NPCs because players could then share a similar experience regardless of game mode. For instance, can you imagine being a gunner on an NPC ship? :)

Mode unique content? Hmmm.. ok, how about NPC wingmen for solo?

Hell, if we got those, i'd probably play in solo almost exclusively.

I'd have a wing of Cobras.

Which omits Private Groups - the second multi-player mode - where anything that can work in Open will also work. :)

But Private Groups don't have to be multiplayer. I could set up my private group so that there is only me in it, effectively solo.

Would you not want to have NPC buddies in Open too?

I am in OPEN, you can hunt me down, hell I accept all friend requests so it will be easier to track me. Come and revenage the death of innocents. You have that option, bring 20 mobians and chase me away, new C & P and all.

Now when you put your filthy hands on muh bgs faction from your safety spot it, this crap has to stop. I should be able to put you into a sidewinder, maybe it will teach you to mess with others property.

Right now what option do I have? To haul more biowaste only faster with rage? Is this game trying to become a meme? I mean this design is some sort of a sick joke, I think Braben and Sandro are trolling here I just cant comprehend this pathetic excuse for a gameplay.

The fact that you think BGS play is about who hauls the most biowaste is telling. You’re definitely suffering from “When you all you like sledgehammers, everything looks like a watermelon” syndrome.

Hey! Those of us in Open would like NPC multicrew and wings too.

So, today's nuclear bomb of a question: what exactly is the problem with mode-specific content?

Content always has to be developed for specific roles or playstyles. I don't expect to get mined ore when I trade, and I don't expect to get tins of imperial slaves for scanning stars during exploration.

So what is the fundamental objection to Open having content for Open play, for PG to get specific content, and for Solo getting its own content?

It doesn't have to make either "exclusive" or "better". The content for either can have equal effort put into it. For a very basic example, Open-only CZs, or trade missions, that drive a particular objective or growth, and PG also has dedicated missions that cannot be completed in Open.

Technical matter aside the above has always been shut down "because all game modes are valid", but if the content is effectively equal on either side, it's not stating that either is more valid - simply acknowledging that different players have different needs.

In a nutshell it caters more to everyone, so unless I am missing something, the only objection would be founded on...well, not wanting other people to have fun. Now there's a turn up for the books :)

Go.

Yep, some OPEN only CGs backed by some more involved and interesting combat related mechanics/scenarios could finally offer some long awaited PvP content for a real purpose!

I've also suggested if Q4's mining improvements adds to stateful resources (eg: a hot spot of palladium in a ring which as you mine it, it reduced down until gone forever), could be used for CGs, and interestingly some CG in OPEN only. ie: Imagine some systems where FD create some stateful resource hot spots to create a "gold rush" for a CG, in OPEN only! Things might get "interesting!" - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...eful-resource-hot-spots?p=6054187#post6054187

Sorry, OP thinks we should have mode specific content, so i claim NPC wingmen for solo! :D

I've typically argued against NPC wingmen for specific reasons not related to shunning Solo play, but for the purposes of this conversation, and if it were done reasonably (i.e. a natural recruitment affair where varied pilots and ships are available, if any, as opposed to "I WANT THREE ELITE CORVETTES IN MY WING NAO!"), then...why not?

In fact that's been part of my concern - that solo players would expect to just fill their wing instantly every time with top-end ships, which you don't get made available even in Open. It should be more like a lobby at stations that may have someone available looking for a wing, and what they're piloting is not picked by the pilot.

Given it's done as above, and as such akin to natural LFG play in Open, then I'd be interested to know if Open play folks have objections to it.

I had meant "content" to mean more, say, activities or events etc. - but I'd accept Solo play NPC wingmen if that were what the majority of solo players wanted, in exchange for...

Nice idea, but you know how that will be received.

"Why do FD make me hunt around for the NPC wingman I want? I've been looking everywhere for hours for an Elite in a Corvette and still can't find one! Another useless grind added to the game by FD!"

:D

Also: "This Elite in a Corvette takes 50% of my income and is all the time stealing my kills! I can't earn money with this! FD, why you don't you respect my time! This is another slap in the face!"

It's all hypothetical, but I am sure FD would be able to handle that. They were never big on insta-gratification themselves; they've repeated constantly that engineering is not intended to be an insta-completion process, and that you are supposed to develop a well-engineered ship over time.

Plus I am fairly certain they'd be aware of the exploit potential of magically summoning a full wing of elite 'vettes and grinding BGS changes with them.

I know how BGS works probably better than the majority here.

Lets put the situation in RL example:

Imagine you own a home, and every night a burglar comes into your home while being invisible and messes it up. Ruins your TV and steals your PC.
First day you repair your TV and replace your PC.

Second night exactly the same thing happens. Again your TV and PC are messed up. You didnt see anyone coming in, you try to report him to the police but you never saw the guy, you cant describe him, you dont even have the evidence to say you didnt make all this story up. So the cops just tell you, well to fight this just keep on replacing your TV and PC because its not important who was breaking into your house.

Welcome to bgs wars in Elite Dangerous.

David Braben, if you ever read those forums, I demand you stop ganking your own players.

A supernatural RL example?

That'd need an exorcist....

Complete tosh and failed analogy.

It's a game - not a real life burglary with mystical burglars walking through walls.
I've attended burglaries when I was a serving UK Constable, they leave whole families devastated and sometimes scared to be in their own homes.
They are not material for you to mock so you can pew pew in a video game.

As for the point you tried to make, you can fight back in BGS wars using the BGS.
And if you know the BGS as well as you claim, you should have known that.
You are not helpless, you are either just lazy or out numbered (of which you'd lose anyway).

To your last comment, the only thing anyone at Frontier needs to do reading these forums is lifetime ban people using real life tragedies to push their agendas.
It is disgusting behaviour.

That’s a given and my apologies for implying NPCs as solo only content. It wasn’t my intention and i have amended my original post accordingly. But you’ve also proved a point because it isn’t nice being left out of development plans simply because you play a certain game mode.

IMO, we should all benefit from all content regardless of mode. :)
