Why not use Telepresence for Conflict Zones?

It would most certainly give players using Frontline Solutions a handicap as far as travel time is concerned.

I'm not particularly for long travel times, nor against change. In fact sometimes I find travel time excessive and annoying. Still they are a big part of the game and influence decisions taken, so giving people "instant travel" would surely change the game..

Travel time when the player has agency is a big part of the game yes.

Delays while the player has no agency is also something that appears a lot in this game but not a desirable one beyond masking the time taken to set up the next instance (ie loading screens).

The only reason for the time taken to travel is one of immersion. There is some tactical advantage in selecting to start from a station closer to the destination at the start of a session but even the shortest distance still has some boring travel time. This proposal will still have a 'loading screen' delay (like jumping between systems or waiting in an elevator).

In general if I am contesting a conflict over an Odyssey asset I would want my faction to shed them asap, not gain or hold onto them. Tactically they are a liability (there are exceptions, some can give a dock to a faction that otherwise has none for example, giving Odyssey players a potential tactical advantage over Horizons players I don't personally like or use).
IME the reason most players I have met go to ground CZs is because they are fun, a bit like Quake arena or many, many other FPS games, including CQC/arena.

Minimising that 'loading screen' would make ground CZs more accessible, and IMO the consequences to the factions involved would be low since (ime) players just doing it for fun (or to collect mats or whatever) have no significant preference for one side or the other as a group (ie individuals may but overall it more or less evens out).

So overall eliminating that dull travel time increases the amount of BGS noise from unfocused (not favouring a specific outcome to the war, only that the side they randomly chose wins that battle), but won't significantly affect those that are focused on supporting a desired outcome for particular faction (in my case losing the Odyssey asset).

Still to me in the end it comes down to introducing more instant travel would mean why even bother using a ship. Regarding settlements you might also want to fight in order to lose them. In any case it would take travel time considerations out of this part of the game, which I'm personally not sure is the right thing to do.

If something would change I'd favour a staging POIs where you can go by either APEX or your own ship and then be delivered to the fight.
