My vote is for the reverse; less shiny iPod looking cockpits, moar details. I can't take the Corsair seriously as a pirate ship with that cockpit.

Pirate themed would be awesome on a ship like the Corsair.
As long as they have multiple themes but with more details that would be awesome.

I'd turn my exploration ships to look have a Gutamaya designed cockpits look.
Imp Cutter (my mining ship) to have a dusty and rusty design.
