Why was I attacked ? Help me understand.

Yeah, actually it does, just not in the way you may readily understand. But I can certainly see exactly what happened. You were wanted in the system, or you had another system bounty and an NPC was scripted in to come and collect it (it's rare, but it's a newish thing). An NPC bounty hunter was chasing you in Super Cruise. They messaged you whilst in super-cruise, then again when you dropped into the station instance. This is automatically within the NFZ, ~10 seconds later the AI completed the scan, and federal security recognised crime had occurred, and moved to intercept.

Once you were within range of the station, it's a foregone conclusion.

So yeah, you were being chased by a bounty hunter in SC, then dropped into the station, where at least the NPC bounty hunter got off a successful scan, never mind station security; 'crime detected' usually means the security forces are on to you (because they automatically share scanned data, as we do in a wing) and moved to engage. And then the station opened up.

There is a ton of spam denoting security was 100% on to you. I think, what's happened here, is you just didn't realise what was going on at the time, so it all seemed wrong. When in fact, it's mostly the game treating a criminal as it tends to do; by shooting at it a lot.

Frontier were kind to you, and simply reimbursed credits. The support team are good people. :)

Cool, well you seem pretty level headed and you have been able to explain things fairly well and easily.. I still don't agree 100% with what went down and I think it's a bit stupid but there are more than one way to look at it I suppose.
The main thing is to learn and move on, that being said, I did know that I was better off heading straight for Lembava and handing in the Merits I had rather than making a stop off at Ladon. I just figured, they are a Li Yong Rui control system, I am with Li Yong so why would they attack me..

I've played the game a bit; and chewed through the journal a bit.

It's "stupid" probably because you're not really clear on what went down. Which is fair enough, I get that. But, essentially, at least the bounty hunter got a successful scan off, if you were wanted then the cops are going to treat you like a clay duck, I am afraid. Is it an optimal outcome? Not really. But sometimes you are on the wrong end of the law. ;)

First rule of fight-club, is you don't mention figh-club. Wait, wrong thing. First rule of merits, is get them handed in as fast as practicably possible; that means do not pass go, don't hop to a system where you may be wanted; your goal is to strategically relocate to the first available system you can hand them in.

Because unless you've been undermining in an anarchy system, you'll have a price on your head, and that can and will bite you when you least expect it. As you've come to discover. ;)

Sorry for your loss, commander; best of luck next time. o7

I think I am clear on what went down, man. What I am not clear on is why I was attacked.

Yes the Bounty Hunter, Sloppy or w/e his name was, was trying to get me.. but why does the security/station at Ladon care ? I was not wanted in Ladon.
I did have two different bounties that I did mention earlier(see my first post) but neither of these were bounties in Ladon and neither of the issuing factions are present in Ladon.

Really not trying to argue, so please don't take it like I am. I am just trying to understand.

EDIT:

This is after I was destoryed by Weitz Refinery. I did re-spawn back at the last station but I flew back to Weitz to see if I would be able to land. I was able to.

This one, again, at Weitz Refinery after being destroyed... these are the bounties I racked up from undermining Torval.

There is only one specific instance where a station will immediately engage.

- You are scanned and are identified as wanted, within the same system (your affiliation is meaningless, criminal scum, prepare to die).

This can be caused by (but not limited to) carrying illegal passengers and a scan succeeds, collision with another vessel (leading to it's destruction) within the NFZ whilst speeding (over 100m/s) or being scanned and identified as wanted for any other reason not otherwise listed.

It's entirely possible the faction in control of the station, was the one you were happily engaging to make PP merits, but it sounds like you discounted that? Also I see you asked for frontier to give you credits because your ship was destroyed due to being wanted. Either way, the station itself will only engage if you are identified as wanted. So you did something, and were then held accountable for it when a scan completed.

System works as intended. Stations will engage with extreme prejudice if you are identified as wanted. It should be recorded in the journal, though; and if it isn't, then the right move was to raise it with support. Because everything is supposed to be, that's the point of the journal.
If you are hostile to the faction that owns the station they will immediately open fire whether you are wanted or not.

Hi All,

So, I just got blown up by Weitz Refinery in Ladon and I'm really not understanding why..

I had been earning Merits for Li Yong-Rui by assassinating Private Security belonging to Zemina Torval. I racked up just under 200k bounty from two separate factions (I was undermining in two different systems) and when I was heading back to Lambava to hand in my Merits, I decided to stop in at Weitz Refinery and see if I could pay off my bounties at the Interstellar Factors there even though I was pretty sure I would not be able to.

Upon dropping into the station, I was given some warning and fired upon almost immediately, I was still about 5-6km from the station, I tried to pull around and make a break for it but I was destroyed.
To be honest, in my panic I did not pay much attention to the warning message and I can't recall what was said but I feel like it was more of a statement than a warning like as in "We are shooting you because of this" rather than "You're breaking the rules, comply or we will shoot".

Now, the thing that gets me is, Weitz Refinery is in Li Yong-Rui space and neither of the Factions that had given me the bounties were based there, soooo why was I attacked ?
Surely I'm not being played by Li Yong where I go kill his enemies and when i return to him he claims the bounty on my head !

The two factions that put bounties on me are, EG Union and East India Company.

I have logs enabled and I'm going to try and look at them to see what I can see because this just doesn't feel right. Maybe I missed something but as far as I am aware the only other thing I had was a 900cr fine.

I did have a 5min video buffer I could have hit save on but I was annoyed and just quit out of the game haha, I wish I saved it but oh well I guess.. It would have been a big help in figuring out what happened exactly.

If anyone has any idea or some insight into why this might have happened so 1) I don't feel a bit ripped off and 2) So I can try avoid it in the future, it would be greatly appreciated.

Easy.

You were playing Power Play. :)

I had an issue similar to this in quince a few days ago. First time there, i thought i would check the place out, i head to millerport and bam, killed be security while docking. Ummm. . No bounty on me, friendly with empire, no dormant fines, nothing. So i thought it was a fluke or the didn't like that i had an alliance intel package from somewhere. Fine. So i get a few missions (system in boom, 4 facions in boom but VERY little missions), 2 are planet scans, cool. Do the scan, fly back to millerport and BAM. Killed be security. And i did NOT incure any fine or trespass bounty during the mission. Needless to say with that and the horrible lack of missions i left.
Never has happned before or since in wu gugani\ceos\nu hising.

I had already entered the station a couple days ago and started taking fire from an NPC that just appeared at the station entrance. I don't know what happened to it, but the lasers were popping all around me from the entrance. This was in Solo.

That sucks man ! Were you ever able to figure out what happened ?

The station may have been attacking your attacker ?
