Why?

best space game ever, that's why.

I was going to challenge your comment but I still can't think of a better 'space' game. I take that as a poor indictment of the space game market. If ED is the best around then there really isn't much choice.

Chances are that a good space game which gives you full control of your ship with enough gameplay to keep the game selling is something that's difficult to do.

I wonder how many companies would even look at this when they could just do another clone of the run round a map and kill each other genre.

As for why I play- didn't every sci-fi loving child of the 80s want to be Han Solo? I'm starting to get old and nostalgia is creeping in.

Honestly, I don't really like Star Wars that much. The second one is quite good but otherwise I don't get the big deal about the franchise. I probably liked them as a kid mind you....and most likely wanted to be Han Solo. The Expanse is presently my favourite 'space' series...2001 probably still the best movie though.

No arguments on Space 2001, although The Expanse isn't something I've had chance to look at yet. I'll have to take a look.

Because I like alternate realities, and E: D reminds me how infinitessimally tiny and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things.

So ED is your total perspective vortex? Let me know when you find the fairy cake.

Because I spent a bunch of money on a nice hotas and VR system for ED and don't have much use of either for my other games.

No, honestly, I wanted to be Han Solo when I was a kid and this is the closest thing to that today.
