WHY!?

There is a whole other thread devoted to this subject, and another that turns about it, both of which are currently active; I personally see little point in turning this thread into a third front, in the power grab.
Well you are responding to me... what you've done there though is signal to the mods that you want this discussion closed. I've currently got a mod responding to every point I make, I'm not going to ignore replies I don't agree with.

I'd personally relish gameplay that kept me in anarchy regions because of the risks of going into lawful regions (with some high notoriety bonus missions from the anarchy factions to keep me busy), but unfortunately there isn't much support for a robust deterrent to crime that would inevitably affect everyone.

One problem with this is how many missions are illegal and how sometimes its quite easy to accidentally become wanted. Not hearing a guard at an Odyssey settlement tell you to stop for a scan can result in them turning hostile, or just not being able to stop in time because you're bouncing along and out of range before you can react.

A stronger crime and punishment system might basically block someone off from doing tons of missions because they simply don't want the hassle. I already tend to avoid most illegal ones because they are a hassle to deal with the fallout... perhaps it should be this way, but it is annoying.

I'd say the last changes to crime and punishment only negatively impacted my enjoyment of the game. Especially the whole business of having to travel to a system where the issuing faction isn't present, rather than just being able to go to a station controlled by another faction... that was really annoying.

All goes to show that basing punishment as something that affects and inconveniences the player instead of the in game character (as it is now) isn't the fun option. I actually do find myself missing the old system sometimes.

Because its a fairly large customer base who FDEV have spent the last 5 years or so driving away from the game with poor design decisions... .

Who might they be?

Because in every single mixed-mode game out there, the PvP crowd may be the loudest customers but they are not the largest group of customers.
