Modes Will 3.0 Increase, decrease or have no effect on Open population?

There was no exploit. There was no cheating here with this latest gold rush.

It was just inflated numbers. No board hopping needed, even though I did it for anything above 5 million.

No need to login and logout for skimmers.

Over 30,000 people flew through that system. Once again it spiked the player base numbers.(better blame the pvpers tho amirite?)

If anything this shows people are held back from enjoying the game because they feel they need to work. They enjoy the game though. So they logged in and got some credits.

Now they can go out there and spend that money engineering those ships. And possibly learn to fight back.

One more thing, the missions boards are still just as bad the other way around. Missions are generated for 30k LY passenger missions paying 200k cr.

The door swings both ways in this case horse rider. The missions boards are just screwed up. They buffed skimmers and people jumped on the gold rush train.

And people are HAPPY after they were able to enjoy that train.

The only people I see upset about it are the people that didnt jump on it.

HOWEVER! I do agree it hurts the new players progression and this type of money should be available to the late game player gated behind Elite Status and mission difficulty. The new player shouldn't have access to it. But the mission boards do need some heavy tuning, Just like Engineers some of the missions need to be static in the end.

And in my opinion, missions locked to certain modes with guaranteed failure upon mode switch. This covers multiple problems.

Someone wants to BGS war against us and they take a mission in open. They have to STAY IN OPEN to complete it. Thats right. And that also means no more mission board flipping. But until they can fix the way the boards work and its crappy payouts. We will have board flipping.

I put him on NACL KOS, him and another one. Wont mention names because its against the rules.

Oh that's right. I forgot, apart from griefing and cheating - you keep harassment lists as well.

@Ziggy.

Cheating: act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage.

People could see and knew that wasn't working as it should (hence the rush to use it before it was fixed), so to continue to use it was dishonest.
And for those who play open and didn't use it - the ones that did just got billions in way of an advantage over them.

Accept it or don't, down to you. We'll still love you either way ;)

To address both points here;

1) Where did you get 30,000 from?
2) While "griefers" (Not PvP'ers in general) stood to gain the most (more re-buy money under new C&P system) - I'd bet my left testie the majority that went for this were PvE players.
2a) Now we'll just wait for the flood of "I was killed in Open" by these same people as they don't know how to fly those ships, due to missing out on progression.

If anything this shows people are held back from enjoying the game because they feel they need to work. They enjoy the game though. So they logged in and got some credits.

So you're okay with the mentality "Games hard, I'll cheat" ?

Don't get me wrong, credit earning does need to be looked at, but up to 350 Million / hour isn't even funny.
If Frontier want the community to rush to something, they should change CG rewards - which also gathers folks for "pirates" to shoot at, so a 2 fold effect.

For cheating in games you need to break an in game rule. I don't see that.

I realise how the word is used in other contexts.

Well a quick Google shows Wikipeadia (yea I know, normally I'd get better links, but CBA right now) would disagree;

"Cheating in video games involves a video game player using non-standard methods to create an advantage or disadvantage beyond normal gameplay"
This seems to be the working definition as I bounce from blog to blog on the issue.

Now in single player games, I don't care who cheats, but Elite is a multiplayer game and this just cheapens it for all of us.

Seems to be blocked for the UK, but I'm sure everyone in the UK knows this Dad's Army scene anyway. =p

Which is code for "I can't explain it either."

Didn't look like code to me, seems to be straight forward;
For some people, it is only cheating when others do it, not when they do.

Typical double standard reference.
Seems apt the way the replies read in here tonight.

Sure will.
TBH I dont know exactly who reported it but I have a strong suspicion about 2 individuals, so they ended up on this list just in case. They deserve it anyway.

Am I on the list?
I've never been on a list, please tell me I'm on the list.

(also it's not had to go to the bug forum and see who put it up - though Frontier will have known from all the YT videos over the weekend showing what to do, so didn't need the report tbh)

You know what the funny part is? You didnt really need to board hop in order to make 150+ mil/hour, those missions were spawning by the dozens in the same mode.

I still need an explanation what is the exact activity in this csse that is defined as cheating.

So the missions were glitched and spawning like mad.. but it isn't cheating ... just like 5/1 wasn't... nor any other instance where people could gain an advantage outside of what Fdev intended. The only difference is this time Fdev decided not to pull the credits.

Thats because it wasnt cheating. You didnt have to do anyhting outside of the norm to do those missions.

Well AFAIK I dont see any reason for you to be on the list but if you want, what's your cmdr name?

I am widely known as Cmdr Mohrgan. It would be hilarious to be remembered on your impotent effort to police against cheats. Well, other people's cheats that is. Yours are obviously excused.

Hmmm when I take missions there is usually 6 or so I can take.. but look I can suddenly take all of these... no nothing out of the norm here....

Mission max limit is 20 not 6.

Again, what cheats are you accusing me with?

I don't defend the exploit, didn't make use of it. But I fail to see the cheating.

It's comments like this that kept me completely (though proverbially) speechless for several hours. How can anyone think that making enough to buy an Anaconda every 15 minutes was working as intended? How can anyone defend what was obviously exploiting a broken game mechanic as anything but cheating?

Did they think Frontier suddenly decided to channel Oprah Winfrey? "You get an Anaconda! You get an Anaconda! Everybody gets an Anaconda!"

And of course, just like Sothis and all the other credit exploits, Frontier has decided to do nothing about this, beyond fixing the broken mechanic.
