There is no legitimate reason to avoid distributing on Steam. This isn't 2006.

But yeah, go for it, as long as you can still buy it direct from FD who cares.
I'd pay more just to not have its stupid little pop up appear while it updates itself with whatever bland rubbish some 20 year old marketing exec earning 3 times as much as I do has decided needs to be plastered all over my screen, while I climb into my pretend spaceship.
Besides, Steam would have to agree to let account holders download the game they have already paid for (including unlimited expansions) for free. Can't see that happening somehow.
I would not be too happy seeing more that 5% of the sale cost going to steam.
Plus a lot of people may hold of purchasing for a long tiem in the hope of a Steam sale.

I have read that the Steam's normal "cut" is 30%.
Woah. I had no idea it was that much. Not sure I view steam in the same light anymore.
I hope FD don't rush to Steam any time soon, as it will quickly become lost and no doubt pressured to be on a significant discount within 3months. At least get the initial release out independently first.
