Will PS4 get the Cobra Mk IV?

Now when youtubers claim being told stuff by devs, one is not quite sure how legitimate their claims are, anything for clicks and all that. Saying that TheYamick is quite well known, and has been invited to Frontier towers, so is far more likely to have talked to devs directly (and gotten an answer) than random xXx420noscopeGoidGrieferxXx type tubers.
.......

For calcification : When I asked devs aobut Cobra4 it was thru twitter DMs a while back. ALSO Yamiks has NEVER EVER EVER been invited by FDev......you know exactly why =}

I did see in one of your other older vids, when others got invited, you didn't: something about not signing NDA / keeping your mouth shut? ;)
Paldies for clarification, although was this exchange about the PC game, or all platforms?

Not sure what was the decision on not inviting me or some other creators.... I personally would have not gone if NDAs were given out (with little exception)

The cobra 4 thing is for all platforms

Lloyd is still looking into it................. (or is he?)

Or is there some news on PS4 CMIV I've missed? As I had things on twitter a "*while" back about cockpit colour settings on consoles, that never happened either.

🤷‍♂️ but the ship is "meh" at best...
I have come to terms with being a PSP (playstation plebian), time to suck it up or swap to XB or PC if you are that bothered imo.
That's pretty much my stance too, but surely this isn't just about the ship, Isn't it also about the apparent contempt that FD has for the PS4 version? I raised an issue about a trophy not unlocking 6 months ago, but it's never been fixed and likely never will.

I reckon FD saw easy money by porting to the PS4 and aren't that bothered about supporting it once the big bucks dried up.

Ahh that's not really true. It says that regarding future roadmap discussions, I feel we do communicate significantly far in advance. I then explained the length of time that we've looked ahead for each season/era. But I also mention that there are areas that we got wrong and should have done better.

Given this seeming new willingness to communicate, any word on the Cobra MK4 for PS4 players?

We asked 6 months before launch, got hints and teases of it being discussed internally, yet still no definitive word almost 3 years on.
When Fdev promoted Arx one common theme was "parity" across platforms, yet we're still here with PC and Xbox players given a chance at one point to own this, yet no parity for us.
Just asking for some official communication: even "it's not coming" would at least put things to rest, as it feels like your communication to PS4 owners is an area you could have done better.

lol. I don't think they'll fall for that ;)

Nice try. I would love Frontier to come out and formally acknowledge the Cobra MkIV position.
3+ years since PC and Xbox went exclusive on those respective platforms and still no sign of anything on PS4.
It’s not like the platforms overlap in any way shape or form.

It seems some people on here are just trying to make a point - without really considering that that point (e.g. let us have the Cobra 4) really adds little to no value.

I kind of understand it - us PS4 players never got the chance to have it but -- so what is it really making me feel I am not getting my monies worth from the rest of the game?

My bigger concern for PS4 platform is lack of players and going the way of the MAC version - we want cross platform play!

I thought the dropping of MAC was because of the way that Apple rendered its graphics. With Sony conforming to the x86 architecture, they are getting closer and closer to a pre-boxed PC than ever before.

The whole thrust of my Cobra MkIV argument is that it should be available to either commanders on PS4 that ordered / pre-ordered Horizons pre-launch or everyone on all platforms.

I was fighting for PS4 specifically but would not have a problem if all players were granted access.

My Cobra IV is called "The couch" as it is my Mining ship that I multi crew with. The seats are so close that we feel that we are on a couch together! Great with good Friends!

isn't the Cobra IV a pile of junk ... but are we missing it though
If you think if it as a small-sized Python it may help give context, as "junk" or usefulness is subjective. eg: the FDL is a terrible ship if you're into trading, it's poor for exploration, poor for mining, poor for being a Fuel Rat (i tried): so it's junk for a whole bunch of activities, as there's far better options.
Then you get something like the DBX, it's an excellent exploration ship, but the anaconda is generally considered better (but many dislike it's slow SC agility), while if it's better/worse than say the AspX it becomes very debatable. So you start hitting pros/cons and subjectiveness of if ship A is better than ship B. I've heard some call the DBX junk, which i'd disagree with strongly.

The Cobra MK4 is a small ship, so can land on medium pads; with a small footprint, so good for landing on rough terrain where some medium ships couldnt land easily; it has 10 slots - the same as the Python - which gives a huge amount of loadout variety; it has 5 hardpoints, more than any other small ship; it's one of only 3 small ships with two seats for multicrew.
So if you like small ships it is excellent as a planetary explorer, good for core mining, gives a very cheap ship for some activities which might need a rebuy.

I'd argue it is not junk, and is better than many ships for some activities.
