Will PS4 get the Cobra Mk IV?

So the Frontier reveal at LaveCon 2019 was that the September update will standardise currency across all three platforms, moving from Frontier points or local currency to a single Arx currency.

I see this as a great move and shows a wonderful move to standardise all three platforms.

Request to Frontier: go one stage further in the standardisation and allow all commanders to (re)purchase the Cobra MkIV.

If the move Arx will simplify the portal experience, releasing the constraints on the Cobra MkIV will simplify the game code.

I spoke to Will at Lavecon the Cobra MKIV for PS4.....

I'll ask him to post here for clarification, but it would seem that the issue is more along the lines of Advertising standards rather than anything else stopping it.

Its not dead in the water, might just need a different solution.

Yea, the Cobra MK4 is advertised on the ED site sin the ships section pretty much like any other flyable ship.
No mention whatsoever that you actually cannot buy it in-game.

So, yea - false advertising

I think its more to do with that it was advertised as limited, ie you had to buy ED and Horizons before a certain date to qualify. That was for PC and Xbox, so not sure where the legalities lie for PS4, i'm sure FDEV will know.

You must mean PS4 controllers, as its available on Xbox. :)

Don't think its a question of legalities, just a question of being fair.

I appreciate your optimism, but I distinctly remember talking with a Dev at the Expo (in October 2017), being told that "we have a few ideas about that" (i.e., how to bring the CobraIV to us).

This was one year and 9 months ago.

I personally don't care much about that ship, but this saga is a good example of the attention the PS4 version of the game has received from Frontier.

If that is so then perhaps the 2020 'new era' thingy will be based the capabilities of the PS5 due at the end of 2020, you never know, ED might even release a Cobra MK V for the Christmas period only... thereby helping their selves to some of that expensive PS5 release hype.

Either that or they release the Cobra MK IV to PS4 players a month before they shut down our servers, as a "consolation prize". 😒
