Will there be more exploration content after Q4?

Well, if you're going to be prudent by arming yourself, you need to assume that you may be attacked by humans or aliens. Human weapons do little damage to alien ships and vice versa, and if you're going to go under-armed then you're just wasting power, so you have to take a full brace of both. If you didn't do this then you're making assumptions about not being attacked.

Thargoids are the only aliens we know of at the moment. But as they are only in one sector of space at the moment I avoid it and don't explore there. As to other aliens we don't know whether our weapons will work or not (If there are any).

When I'm exploring I avoid combat at all costs. My data is too valuable to risk losing in a battle. It's called being wise.

So do I avoid combat at all costs. They are there for those just in case scenarios, which so far haven t materialised, but there is always a first time.

Genuine question: what's your loadout? Given that AX weapons are not effective against human commanders, and that standard weaponry is highly ineffective against Thargoids, what do you carry?

Standard weapons. I do not explore where there are thargoids. They seem to be in one area so far.

11,000 players - I bet many of them explorers - turned up for an exploration event.

Now, we all know how that turned out.

But, if there's one good thing to emerge from the event, its that explorers have proved to Frontier - yet again - how hungry they are for content. Which isn't surprising since we've been fed crumbs for years now.

So, I hope that after Q4, Frontier consider adding more exploration content, and don't think "Right! That's the exploration stuff done, time to get back to creating more combat content." This game has been stuffed with combat content, especially since 2.4.

I dare say there's more combat content to come in Q4, despite that being focused on exploration and mining. We know that fleet carriers and ice planets have been put on hold due to an adjustment for content focus which adds "significant new gameplay". But, what is that gameplay based on? If it ends up being more combat, my screams of frustration will be heard in Sag-A.

The audience for exploration content is there, Frontier. The massive turnout to Gnosis (and the reaction to that event) proves it beyond doubt.

If 2018 was Yet Another Year of Combat, then 2019 should be The Year of Exploration. I hope Q4 is just the beginning of that overdue journey.

First things first: 11000 came to an event that hinted to be swarmed by Thargoids and might not make the jump. It's expectations that make so many ignore the facts. I am explorer, I came loaded with weapons because of these facts.

That said, I also absolutely hope Q4 will give us foundations of mechanics to build on and not just treat-like features and then back to pew pew.

Yeah well. I kind of hoped the introduction of research limpets and unique scanners would mark a new era for future exploration/research content in Elite.

But the newest additions still make you use your laz0rs for "research", so I'm not too optimistic :)

I'm afraid, Frontiers have their own vision and their own plan, and they don't really that much care about everything rest. If more content for explorers is in that plan, players will get it, if not -- not, no matter what we think we may "show" to the devs.

I went 5000 light years and saw the same thing over and over and over again, the only thing I've seen that is different from every other copy and paste ship, station, planet, etc, are nebula's.
