My favorite animal is easily the hornbills. They've got beautiful colours and casques, which requires some fused vertebrae and thick, powerful neck muscles to support them. But its totally worth it!

Javan rhinos are one of the rarest large mammals on Earth, with only around 60 left, although some estimates put the number as low as 30 individuals.

They are also adorable tank puppies:

My favorite animal is the grey wolf.
As for a fack about them....
A wolf pack is mainly made up of family members, the breeding pair and their offspring. This is also the reason that some have started to spectated that the idea of an Alpha is wrong due to the hierarchy of the pack in the wild being based around a set of parents and their offspring. Not random individuals, like a pack raised by humans where the individual wolves aren't related and will fight to gain dominance over each other.

Has to be the polar bear - it is not white at all. It's skin is black. And its fur is actually clear. Reflection and light scattering make it appear white - but it isn't.
(not good for zoos though)

My favourite animals are wolves, and a fact I think to be interesting about them is that they take snow into their mouth whenever they're on the hunt to prevent their breath from being visible in winter!

My favourite animals are llamas. Their poop has almost no odour, not my favourite thing about them but good to know! 😁

My favorite animal is the okapi. While they don't appear to make sound, they actually make sounds with such low frequency that human ears can't pick them up. This also helps them stay hidden from predators while they converse.

Hayo future Zookeepers!

We hope you're looking forward to a whole new month full of animals and Planet Zoo news!

To kick off July, we're doing a massive giveaway in partnership with HyperX via Gleam: https://gleam.io/3IOt1/planet-zoo-deluxe-edition-hyperx-complete-set-giveaway - check it out because we are giving away some amazing prizes, like a full set of peripherals and lots of other goodies! You can sign up to our newsletter, visit a page, or refer a friend for a chance to win; we've even added a daily option to get extra entries!

However, we know that some of you already follow all the social pages and would like something for the forums. That's why, in addition to the Gleam giveaway, we are doing a Planet Zoo forum giveaway as well!

Simply comment on the thread below with a fun fact about your favourite animal, and you could win a Planet Zoo Deluxe Edition (Digital Code) + goodie bag!

You have until Tuesday 9 July, 12PM BST - then we will randomly select a winner from the thread.

Please make sure to follow these rules (we will delete and disqualify those that don't):
  • Only ONE entry (comment) per person.
  • No rude/insensitive/inappropriate responses.
There will be one winner and they will be contacted by a Frontier Community Manager - you will have 7 days to respond and claim your prize. Please note that we (Frontier) reserve the right to change the prize at any stage for a prize of similar value, and Frontier employees and their family are excluded from taking part.

You are free to participate in both giveaways!

Have fun!
My favorite animal is an orca. Some scientists believe that they are smarter than chimpanzees. They are also the only non-human animal that has evolved based on culture. There is also 76 southern resident orcas left, due to starvation, pollution and noise pollution, they rely on chinook salmon which is very scarce. One member of one of the pods showed us that orcas have emotions, her calf died 30 minutes after it was born and the mother carried the calf on her head for 17 days. Orcas are only one of 3 animal species that experience menopause

A male Penguin searches a stone - the perfect pebble under 1000 ones, to give it his intended companion. If she accept the pebble, she put it into her nest and both will get mommy and daddy. Male Penguins fight with other Penguins for those pebbles.

My favourite animal is the Komodo Dragon. Did you know that according to the National Geographic they can eat 80% of their body weight in one feeding?

They are such cool predators.

What I want something new is western lowland gorillas, Bornean orangutans, not to mention eastern black rhinos, southern white rhinos, and great Indian rhinos.

When the tapirs are affraid of something they run in the forest destroying everything in their ways. Because of that, some of the Brazilian indigenous tribes said that the Milky way was a tapir trail, called TapiRape (means tapir's trail in Tupi-Guarani = indigenous language)
