With the implementation o NEW Karma e C&P - Will Frontier Give some way to track down wanted CMDRs?(PvP)

I like the flags in the Gal Map idea. That should go to the top of the list.

I do think consideration should be given to the private group issue. What are crimes in one PG, may not be in another. As it is now, the only punishment for crimes against PG rules, is a possible boot from that PG. It should probably stay that way.

Just like friend tags on the galmap, there could be "Wanted Alert" tags - places that have scanned wanted CMDRs. You could easily turn these tags off if not interested, or use them to zero in on bounties. The fact that it's a general "wanted" ping would mean that you, as a wanted CMDR, would have to be doubly careful, as other wanted CMDRs being scanned in your system would set the flag. And since it would be "last known position", as I said before, it would cause the hunters to actually hunt, and not just fly to point A.

Talk about shark infested waters - a bubble full of bounty hunters waiting to pounce on RED player tags. And snagging yourself a wanted status makes you the injured fish, flopping about and bleeding into the water.

Think how much fun Friday nights would be. Instead of winging up to go to the CG or wherever, you could wing up to track down bounties.

Even for the wanted - flying around with bounties now is just boring or annoying. Think how much fun it would be to have to be laying low until the heat cools off, or leading other CMDRs on a wild goose chase as they pursue you across the bubble.

That just sounds like too much fun.

I like this assuming that the 'wanted' flag isn't specific to a Cmdr, but to any wanted Cmdr who was scanned. One foolish baddie player trips up & spoils the party for the rest. A bored pirate gang lays a PvP trap, sets off the batsignal & bounty hunters all fall for it.

How long would the flag remain active? If I got accidentally scanned I might just high wake immediately.

Absolutely.

It's not "Hey, Guy X is HERE!!!"

It's "Hey, a wanted CMDR was seen flying around HERE!!!"

Come what may from the use people make of it :)

Question ?

What's going stop groups like SDC from shooting each other and collecting each other bounties? Also since many of these people have huge amounts of money, why won't some of them just get shot and pay the rebuy cost and go on their merry way?

Well a few things hopefully. The karma system is primarily intended to discourage extremes of poor behaviour, like excessive ganking & CLogging. Plus they can claim each others bounties now and I understand within some player groups it's normal to help out the newbie by letting them do just that to build up funds. Cash is relatively trivial to obtain now (compared to launch) so throwing a little more cash their way is seen as the lesser evil I guess.

One of the big, fundamental issues with most of the suggestions in this thread is that the baddie isn't likely to die, they'll just jump away if they want to. A potential solution to this comes via karma, where a certain pattern of behaviour could lead to the player's ship being impounded when they dock, effectively forcing them into a free sidewinder.

Several threads have popped up recently discussing the gameplay potential of a karma system, and/or a crime & punishment (C&P) overhaul, and this is one of those threads. Actually being able to do this stuff in the game is probably going to come well after the initial implementation of the karma system, and we don't even have an eta for that.

I don't mind chipping in on stuff like this but I'd like to help the Karma system stand the best chance of being well received by the playerbase before worrying too much about what else it could do. Gotta talk about something though eh? ;)

I would challenge this by suggesting that any time you get scanned in security space it updates your position on the GalMap (or just designates the scan system as having a wanted CMDR). That way you could operate in Anarchy with no problem, and would have to keep on your toes in any security systems so as not to give away your "last known position".

That would force bounty hunters to actually hunt valid targets.

Absolutely, this is exactly what I was picturing. You open the gal map and see "wanted very bad guy" stickers in red along with your green friend markers. It sounds like fun for both sides, the player and the bounty hunters.

Putting hope in a Karma system is fine but we are talking about combat bounties.
