With the release date, being the 11th.... this is a concern!

Reported:

BUG- every time docking computer takes you through the letterbox, you just explode for no reason. Easily replicated 100% of the time.

[sorry too busy to look at this, submit ticket in 6 months if it still happens]

BUG- upon deploying hard points, you seem to get blown into witchspace, and only a log off / log on puts you back in to the game. Always reproducible.

[sorry too busy to look at this, submit ticket in 6 months if it still happens]

BUG- when handing in a combat bond (any combat bond) your account gets deleted and you restart in a side winder at Eravate.

[sorry too busy to look at this, submit ticket in 6 months if it still happens]

Hey guys... look, just found out that if you sell coffee beans at Corbyn Memorial, i'm getting 1.8m cr / ton..

[thanks for reporting, this is not intended gameplay, this is immediately being looked at and will have it fixed within 8.7 minutes of writing this]

Nice argument you imagined there.

Didn't even need to try ;)

Now where did I put my coffee... ahhh there it is!

EDIT: but it is funny how a particular credit machine was fixed in record time compared to the skimmers falling out the sky...

Ponder flavored jelly beans!

Fact is, almost every bug report (yet have to find an exception!) has been answered by now with this standard text block:

Hey CMDR!

Due to the large volume of tickets, I would like to apologise for the delay in replying to your report - can you please confirm if this is still occurring when the update goes live. If so, please do submit a report with as much supporting evidence when you encounter this issue.

Thank you in advance! o7
Make of it what you want...
There’s loads that got answered from the earlier days of the Beta, and various that have already been fixed. - The FSS not retaining position when zooming out, for example.

However, as the Beta’s gone on and more and more has been added, the number of bug reports has gone through the roof. After a while the pattern changed and replies dwindled in comparison to the number of reports being posted.

A typical response prior to that would be

“Hey x,

I’ve been able to replicate this issue and have passed it on for further investigation.

Fly safe,

y”

I make of it what I made of it at the time it became noticeable - that volume outstripped capacity to respond in the way that had been being done previously and a change of approach being necessitated.

Better for time to be spent on checking, prioritising and fixing bugs rather than giving individual replies to each bug report, and once the decision is made to not do another Beta release, then no one’s going to be able to check whether their bug’s been fixed until release anyway.

Factor in duplicate reports, one-offs, non-replicable bugs, etc. and the generic response to all is just a matter of pragmatism.

Let's face it, all games are released these days with bugs, it's just a matter of how bad they are. Even AAA console games need huge patches/updates on release day. Seeing as it's a fact of gaming life, might as well just accept it. What I do, is keep an eye on the forums because the bigger glitches will be talked about here, and then I just don't play those facets of the game until they are fixed. Not a big problem as there is so much to do it's easy to skip the buggy bits, assuming you're not laser focused on one particular aspect which has a hiccup.
Meh, don't worry, be happy :)

Without checking, I'd guess the bug-reports in question are related to things that ARE getting changed for 3.3, anyway, so they're likely to be resolved.

It'd be a bit silly for FDev to just make that reply to random bug reports so the QC department could put their feet up for a week.

Given most of the bugs are in beta which gets wiped and will be rolled out with multiple bugfixes already in place there may be a slight element of overreacting to nothing very much at all.

My impression is that the bug wasn't even looked at. They didn't say it will be fixed in 3.3. They said they've been too busy - if it's not something that is getting fixed in 3.3 raise it again later. If anyone believes legs or atmospheres are realistic given they obviously can't even fulfil basic maintenance, they should re-evaluate their expectations.

The QA team have been the most interactive in the Beta reporting process, more even than devs.

That's pathetic. Quite clearly FDev haven't resourced appropriately for the maintenance of this game.

What on Earth are you going on about? You do know that this is about Bug Reports for the 3.3 Beta, no Bug Reports from Live, don't you?

They didn't say they were too busy to fix the bugs, they were talking about the lack of replies to Bug Reports. A lack of reply doesn't mean that nothing is being done about any of the bugs. And with regard to the part about checking once 3.3 goes live, where else do you think people will be able to check whether the bugs they reported have actually been fixed or not?

I think the QA team should be able to advise whether or not it's been fixed mate. That's their job.

I'd assume that, behind the scenes, FDev list all the NEW bug-reports from the beta and they've got to a point where most of the bugs currently being reported are duplicates of stuff they already know about.

Week 1: 500 bugs/week are being reported and they're ALL (obviously) new. (total: 500 bugs)
Week 2: 500 bugs/week are being reported and 50% of them are new and the rest are duplicates. (total: 750 bugs)
Week 3: 500 bugs/week are being reported and 10% of them are new and the rest are duplicates. (total: 800 bugs)
Week 4: 500 bugs/week are being reported and 1% of them are new and the rest are duplicates. (total: 805 bugs)

By this point, they've had 3 weeks to work on 800 of those bugs - many of which are simple oversights - so it's entirely likely most of them WILL be fixed.

Sure, ideally you'd just keep testing until 0% of bug reports were new but that's not really realistic, especially in this age of online-only games where hot-fixes can be applied automatically.

So, in a context of substantial constraints, focus on one aspect of the job, and treat that as the be all and end all? Classic.

Tell you what, you prioritise. What do you want QA to spend their time on, working on the bugs or replying to bug reports. Your choice.

How is that inconsistent to my assertion? You've just admitted they can't fulfil the requirement of a QA team.

To be fair, every past release that I can remember has been full of bugs (I started playing at launch). So not sure what all these people that are suggesting all (or even most) of the bugs will be taken care of are on about.
Moreover just because things went badly before, goes not mean that it’s ok for things to continue to go wrong now, or in the future.
Strange, most of the responses so far have been... disappointing.
Someone above posted that it’s the qa’s team job to make sure bugs are looked at and addressed. I completely agree.
Does this spell doom? Frankly, who cares.

It's probably not the QA team's fault. They're obviously stretched too thin. Bugs reappear and aren't captured all the time. FDev have resourced the team in such a way as to accept that as common practice. I've worked under those conditions. It's not nice. You feel swamped an incapable of doing your job properly. I'm blaming management for either under-resourcing or taking in too much.
