"working on something secret for PC and Mac"

A CD Player? No. Seriously?

You know its gonna be 'Cup holders' nothing more agonising than getting in a fight then ya coffee goes flying into ya lap, its long overdue and we have been using that antique CD player that comes with every ship ;)

My Python came with a lousy 8-track player. You can't even find tapes available in the Black Market locations. :)

Remember, The newsletter said secret. Planetary landings, walking around ships, et al., are well known and not secret. ;)

A murder was sentenced to death one Monday. The judge took pity on him, and said that he would be shot one day in the next week, but which day would be a secret. The prisoner skipped back to his cell with a huge grin on his face. The guard, puzzled, could not understand why he was so happy. So the prisoner told him:

I'm safe: you cannot shoot me any day and it be a secret. If you have not shot me by Saturday, then you cannot shoot me on Sunday, as it is the only day left in the week, and so would not be a secret. But if you have not shot me by Friday, then you cannot shoot me: since you cannot shoot me on Sunday, you would have to shoot me on Saturday. And since I know that, it would not be a secret. Of course, they cannot shoot me on Thursday, by extending the argument. Indeed, they cannot shoot me on any day, I am safe!

The guard, not the brightest of people, did not really get it. But for the next couple of days the prisoner kept up his high spirits.

Then on Thursday morning, they shot him. It was a secret after all.

A large chunk of the team are working on it. Could be an expansion they are announcing. I like to think Planets come before walking around the ship if so. Hopefully more to be revealed in a few months time.

I really don't understand how Thargoids could be a meaningful expansion. AFAIK all they could bring is new types of ships and a new hyperspace interdiction mechanic.

I hope for either improvements to the base game mechanics or planetary landings.

I think it will be a long lost human civilisation in Regor, split off from our own Human empires via a lone generation ship that successfully colonised a planet, and later grew on its own, and developed their own ships and technology. A bit like the Argon Federation in the X Universe games, but born under different circumstances.

Perhaps it's planetary landings, onto planets full of hordes of nymphomaniac humanoid women who desperately clamber all over your windscreen when you touch down.

Then again, perhaps not.

As this game stands I would not even begin to consider purchasing a paid expansion.
If that is the road they choose over building the core game then I will pass.

They won't "choose it over building the core game", but if you don't want to buy an expansion like that, well...

I most certainly will! :)

Well...actually I already have...but you know what I mean. :D

Something secret, can only be the Thargoids

They really need to not announce that one imo, just let it happen as organically as possible. That said, there is no stopping this hype train, it derailed way back. If it(aliens) arrives as an announcement, I fear, will be just another NPC to shoot, just different shapes and colours. So much potential will be lost.

What Thargoids could bring :

- New ships to destroy (pewpew) in aliens vs humans CZ
- New ships to fly (Thargoids tech)
- Different Thargoid factions : alliances with different human factions, some Thargoids trying to create a global war, rebel thaargoids trying to avoid it, the possibility for the players to stick with one or another
- Exploration : recon and spying missions / wreck Thargoid ships to find and salvage, Thargoids colonies ...
- Trading : opportunities for new(and risky) traderoutes with some gridy Thargoid faction
etc etc

Really, endless possibilities if you ask me. Of course, FD would need to create a lot of content for any of this.

What it will probably bring.... a new type of USS with a different NPC model ;)

Sorry must try to be more positive: maybe things will look better in the morning :)
