"working on something secret for PC and Mac"

Agreed. We don't necessarily need fancy new game mechanisms/mods/add your super cool feature here. Just reinforcing the core mechanics and chasing bugs would actually be enough for me. Then we could move to the next content addition :)

It clearly wont be that, there will be bug fixes but there is obviously something considerably larger than what you have listed there.
.
Imagine the forum melt down, they promised us a feature and it turned out to be some bug fixes.
.
This game needs some content, I suppose this game is like that ex you had with a great rack but who was a total bore, it could have been so great if she just wasn't a bore, they can just see the potential. Like those steam comments of games with over 200hrs played then a negative review and your like guys you got your tenner out of the game calm down man.

It seems assumption that PP is weekly long is some kind of limitation.

It's by design. People do have weekly cycles playing game. Devs have taken this into account.

It is probably a side effect (like Jacques' starport moving) of the fact that they have maintenance on Thursdays anyway. It appears they have to do 'stuff' that they cannot do when the system is up. Just imagine the noise on the forum (especially from the pp haters) if FD had to bering the system offline to update the powerplay stuff.

I think these are the things I would like to see implemented next.

Manufacturing, give the miners a purpose.
Also as part of this, vastly increase the amount of products that are available.

Planet landing, but more than that, implement the first person elements as well so we can start walking around stations etc...
Also allow us to buy a room on a station so we have somewhere to call home and display trophies and mission rewards etc...

More variety of station, station interior. I liked how some of the stations were different in Sol when I visited.
Faction specific stations and interiors.
At least 30 different stations and interiors, then more to follow.

Tiered story based missions for all the different career types, maybe some mixing so you have to explore and area, then deliver items, maybe defend the area at the same time.

Player owned capitol ships that have to be flown by multiple players so guilds/factions get another reason for being.

Implemented next? that's quite a list;- perhaps with 1000 programmers/content creators, divided into 60 man teams. Sorry won't happen.

There are many who would prefer they put more effort into fixing bugs (some of which, like stuttering, have been around for a year at least) and to putting in 'little bits and pieces' that are missing. But yes, there would be a meltdown in the forum (actually, there probably will be whatever happens) since there are lots of folks who say that, for them, the game is fine.

But we can be pretty sure it is not bug fixes and little bits and pieces. It sounds like they intend to make a splash about it at that game convention in Germany. You don't do bug fixes as a PR rah-rah. We can be confident it is a significant lump of stuff.

... effort into fixing bugs ... like stuttering...

Now THAT is something I can confirm is being worked on ;)
that's common knowledge ...

Hi everyone,

...

There are some issues still being investigated such as the new res sites not populating as expected, and wear and tear costs. The Powerplay update included some fixes for micro-stuttering and stuttering seen on some people’s machines, however while these fixes have helped in many cases, it still affects others so we are still looking into other causes.

...

Thanks

Michael

I hope so it was terrible earlier. Worse than during the beta.

There are multiple causes, which make it hard to nail down, particularly on the varied hardware of everyone's PC.
Rather ironically, development of the XB1 version has helped to identify some of the causes.

I really do hope that it is consolidation of the game foundations before adding more half-backed stuff to it.
Something in the line of better missions (like branching missions (escort, protect outpost, find pirate base,... )).
A bit more exploration content / mystery / investigation / salvage, based on the three clue rule / node design.

Also, better PP integration to the game base would not hurt.

Otherwise, the game will end up an unholly minigame patchwork mess. Once the game foundations are solid, add stuff like planetary landing,
multicrew ships and whatever cool things them come up with.

Half-backed stuff? Better check the Polls.

Now if what you just said was misspelled ie; 'half-baked' stuff, I could agree...

I can vouch for sure that they ironed out any hitches when planets appeared for me (now they use shader check to verify which ones are best for which card, which was really nice way to solve this). Now they transition between LODs smooth as silk.

Afaik they have changed a bit of networking too, so there's some stuttering re-introduced there.

I bet 100 merits it's planetary landings, due in December. To me it is the last macro-thing missing from an otherwise "complete" game. When it's in place, everything can be fine-tuned into perfection, but they have to get it out sooner rather than later and before too many features will become conflicting with this "pillar".

Good thinking Moriarte; that's my belief. +1

Not sure how major 'paid' updates such as planetary landings and FPS modes will ever be integrated into the core game, it would impact on those without it.
I think that the core game will progress with tweaks, ships and hopefully some missing career choices etc but all else will be meta with only superficial effects being seen in the wider game as in PP. I would like to be wrong but given what we are currently seeing I fear I am not and I am pretty sure that they said paid content would be outside of the core game experience i.e. optional.

Yes paid content optional; but you better believe FD will eventually be selling the complete (Elite Dangerous package) containing the core game, and the expansions for more $. That's a no brainer...

I agree with OP

personally - I'm MORE interested in actual game content / life / variety in the galaxy than planetary landings / walking around ships.

Please please please FDevs - the next update needs to be for the solo players: we want a galaxy that is ALIVE

*edit - and that doesn't mean Thargoids. That means HUMAN life.

I'm not sure how Solo playing can-not be also included in planet landings....Other than this, sure bring on the tier 2 NPC's; make the game alive for all players.

It can't be a pillar if it is optional.

You cannot 'fine tune' stuff that is not there - exploration, salvage, persistent NPC, etc., etc., etc.

Well there's one thing that the Xbox version and team have brought, if nothing else, not sure it justifies the time and resources spent on it though as it's still a huge issue, at least from a PC gamer's perspective. Maybe in 6 months or so PC gamers will start seeing the value in the Xbox development but, for now, there's precious little.

Any bug fixes are appreciated but, trying to justify the Xbox thing by saying it helped with a still current issue is a stretch. IMO.

Please let it be planetary landings!!!! :D

There is no possible way this will happen.

It might be one of the closed areas of the galaxy being opened. Maybe other intelligent life hostile or nice.

Star citizen fps beta will be out soon.

Star citizen dev team only is working on one game and they have a much larger dev team then FD has on this game.

If it is secret then it is something we did not ask for and, like PP something I did not want. I would much rather they said, we have a huge announcement that is not secret but involves us doing what we planned to do in the beginning of this development process!
The biggest announcement they could make would be that all along they have been secretly workng on making the game that was described during the kickstarter and DDF process.
That would be wonderful. That was a great game.
