Update 12.1 is out, with the Brit subs.
The hybrid US BB's are still in early access. Have not had a chance to play them. Will wait until they are tech tree ships.

I just created my own no-frills Twitch channel for WOWS. DoghouseFlying is the channel name. It's for losers like me, not super-unicums.

I haven't played since before subs debuted. How is the game with them?
Not much fun.
Subs have a very high skill floor. The good players terrify surface ships, while the bad ones take up slots that could be used for surface ships. Many subs have sub-100 BXP scores in the battle results. No, I'm not ashamed of the pun.
Any time you have an active sub against you, you have to drop everything to concentrate on it. Evading torps almost inevitably turns you broadside to the red team, to be focused on.
But, they are bringing in a new Italian BB that has 18 inch SAP shells...
Note: Wargaming continually runs lootbox/money-sink events. It's almost as if they expect the US dollar to collapse by summers' end.
Patch 12.4 drops tomorrow. It's the last day for Free XP ships, and also non-nerfed supercontainers.

Beware the win streaks. You will pay. But its still fun, even when I get a kill or two but lose.

Subs ... so bad in the sense subs were never used the way you can use them in wows. But, a good sub commander can wreck you quick if they sneak up on you (those curving torpedoes are killers). I've gotten better at killing them with battery fire and aerial anti sub killers. I really like getting close to one in my destroyers. I play alll Random, and most of my battles have at least one or two subs.
and beware the win streaks ... I had a 13 or more losing streak before I got a win (and I'm improving a lot - but losing) I'm ~50% the past couple of days.

Well ?? Maybe I should just uninstall WoWs. I already got rid of Armored Warfare because ... stuff.
As my previous post ^^ delineates, my performance has gone up over the past 100 or so games but my losing is also going up. (1 W 4 L yesterday regardless of a couple of 2 kill battles and finishing in the top half). I know, I'm just a malcontent. ... and proud of it

With the forums shutting down and many saying they might lose interest in playing now, the amount of revenue wg will lose might amount to quite a lot, most people who join this type of game research for information, and once new people hear there are no forums they will most likely pass, just a g...

I am so behind the times. Friday was The End.
There are many who said (before the termination) they will eventually stop playing because some of their enjoyment of the game included reading the forums and learning about the game (me too); and they were not big fans of Discord. I was an old WoT player who got very tired of the caustic player community and eventually stopped playing WoT after ~4 to 5k battles. When WoWs was announced I was a bit skeptical but the WoWs community was very different from the WoT folks imho. There was no other game like WoWs when it came out and arguably that still holds true.
Edit: and those losing streaks just keep piling on. makes me want to take a break

I actually played Planes and Tanks instead of WOWS this weekend.
Planes is still around, because it piggybacks on Tank's servers, and it costs little to run. WOWS will probably find a similar fate during this decade, as older players die off or quit.

I can't seem to hate WoWs enough to uninstall Again. I keep going back for a beatin' or ridicule from a vastly superior team member. But, then I read some posts this week at the new forums and I see encouraging posts from reasonable sounding ppl regarding win rates and playing open aka Randoms.

The new patch is out, the Black Friday and other monetization schemes are on, and for one week, you can reset all your captain skills.
The skills have been changed, so the reset is a good idea. Now that I'm out of premium time, I stripped my fleet down to premium ships (removing captains, not the ships themselves) and Tier 1 ships.
Tier 1 is the only CV, submarine, and torpedo-free place in the game. It's hard to lose money at T1. I have Ashely Violet as captain of my Erie.
