Worried

Freelancer was an unmitigated disaster right up until the moment Chris got escorted out of the building and told not to come back.

Same will happen with Star Citizen, though I fear it's way past the point of no return. Everyone except the most die-hard fanboys are just sat waiting for the inevitable collapse.

Which is sad, because with the right people at the helm, the resources in both cash and dev talent they've had, SC could have been something special and groundbreaking.

But while ever Chris wants to rant and rave for a few days at someone in the art department because the creases on a leather flying jacket are the wrong shade of brown, and everything should immediately halt until this is fixed, instead of actually concentrating on the important things of building such a huge game, the slippery slope was first stepped upon a long long time ago.

There's an old quote somewhere:

"There comes a time in the life of every project where it becomes necessary to shoot the engineer and ship the product."

There comes a day in the development of any product when its time to go to market and make some sales. As engineers, we often want to make one more improvement, one more tweak to make the product The Best EVER. Left to our own devices, we may keep improving and never complete the product. This quote reminds us that the time comes where the product has to ship.

Someone asked Michelangelo how he knew when he was done with a sculpture. He replied that it is never finished. I keep working on it until they take it away.

(might have been Leonardo di Vinci about painting, too)
