Would anyone accept a general leopard?

North Asia has only two cats, counting the lynx. Snow Leopards are Central and South Asian.

And true, the middle east doesn't have very good rep, but most of its large animals are either just variants of pre-existing animals (Syrian brown bear, Asiatic Cheetah, Arabian oryx, etc.), or could pretty easily be put into another pack without dedicating a whole pack to the middle east (Dromedary and Hamadryas baboon). The only real exception I could have seen is the fallow deer, but we got that in the Europe pack for some reason, so I don't see a Persian leopard as particularly easy to make use of in most zoos, and find it pretty unlikely to show up in a regions pack. Maybe it could show up in like, a mountain pack, but even then, I think there are some much bigger names people would want out of a mountain pack first before a Persian leopard.

This includes areas further north than either the Siberian Tiger or Amur Leopard.

I'd prefer the Persian, because it would give middle east representaion, and would cover a large number of biomes (desert, temperate, taiga, grassland), compared to the much less versatile amur leopard, which overlaps with the siberian tiger.

personally I'd prefer the amur leopard not just because it is the most visually distinct subspecies, but also because we only have two North Asian animals ( Red-Crowned Crane and Siberian Tiger) at the moment, unless you count the animals that have massive ranges across Eurasia like the moose and lynx, and it's probably the area most underrepresented right now in the game because of that.
You should definitely count the wide range animals. You can't just count endemic animals, especially in Eurasia. Northern asia has ~8 habitat animals, which is better than the entire continent of Oceania, and much better than the middle east, with next to none habitat animals.

I would probably also prefer the Persian leopard to any of the other subspecies. As well as representing an area and habitat that has very few cats currently, another reason that I think it could be one of the better options is that its colour scheme is most different - it is a much paler animal than either the Amur or the tropical leopards, so that it falls sort of mid-way between the dark yellow of the jaguar and the grey-white colour of the snow leopard. That would help visually distinguish it from the other spotted big cats in the game.

Of all the leopard species the two desert ones are my favorite. I actually think the Persian species would be the best for the game as well, but I'm ok with the Amur. I'm even ok with the African. But I would despise a general leopard and I wouldn't want more than one species.

Just a quick point, since you refer to them as species twice here, is that there’s only one species - the Persian, Amur, African etc. are all subspecies. May not change your view (fair) but thought I’d mention it just in case.

On what?

I don't think you quite get what this thread is about. I'm not asking what you think is best, I'm not asking what you prefer, I'm asking whether you'd be willing to accept a compromise. Your favourite leopard subspecies isn't relevant. It's really a yes or no question; if for some reason Frontier couldn't decide on a specific subspecies and decided to just throw in a "Leopard (Panthera pardus)" would you be fine with that at the time or would you be annoyed that they didn't pick whatever leopard you personally wanted.

I'm really asking for three reasons;
1) The African leopard has been discussed ad nauseum and seems to pop up a lot more than any other subspecies;
2) In contrast to the above, the Amur leopard has a very clear lead in the popularity contest.
3) Recently more and more people have been saying, "I don't care what subspecies, I just want a leopard."

The third reason is particularly important, because while the statement implies "I don't care what subspecies, I just want a subspecies," it could also be interpreted as "any leopard is fine", and it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable from a marketing standpoint to just include the "Leopard" as a generic substitute for all subspecies.

As I said in the OP, I have my own preference (Amur) but it's not important.
I would be happy with any subspecies (I don't really have a preference, they are all very cool) BUT I WOULD NOT BE OKAY WITH A GENERIC LEOPARD. The different subspecies look very different and the subspecies is always specified when a leopard is displayed in a zoo.
