a) I'm in favour of the current shield recharge mechanic (to get this out of the way)
b) I strongly suggest that shields recharge faster at stations. New ship outfitting: Shields to 0 - Silent running: Shields to 0 ... do you want us to wait forever just staring at the screen?
c) Everything in the game progresses in real time, but not the shield recharge? I know it's by design, but why? Where is the possible exploit if you turn off the game and come back later instead of parking your ship somewhere in the nothing or a station and keep the game running while making dinner?

Where is the possible exploit if you turn off the game and come back later instead of parking your ship somewhere in the nothing or a station and keep the game running while making dinner? - the possible exploit is i could simply log to main menu and log back in. once logged in, this happens much more quickly (i mean only a few seconds) than your initial log in, and you log to the same instance you were already in (in PvP, not PvE). So if I was fighting a wing of 4 in a wing of 4 and CMDR X killed my shields, I could log to main menu and log immediately back in with my shields back up, in the same instance I was just in. That's why I agree with the fact my shields never recharged over 20ish hours later.

Super, ultra annoyingly, if the game crashes with you on full shields, when you log back in, you have.. NO shields.
That is.. VERY bad...
Z...
If the game crashed and you had full shields you would return with full shields. You have the same shield level as when you left the game.
