Game Discussions X4 this looks Very good

I have scoured the Avarice sector for Data Vaults. Good news: I found 2 and the LR scanner does work, but at reduced range. Bad news: I found more anomalies than vaults, lol. I might repeat it for the 1st Avarice sector, but I'm not gonna check above and under the ecliptic. ES forum has a batch file that analyses the save and returns the coordinates of the vaults.
Pro tip: VIG shipyard gives you 50% veteran marines on all marine hires.
The Erlking is top boarder. So much CREW! And wanna know something else: It's the best L trader in the game. (Or is it actually XL?) Some 50k capacity. And the speed - OMG, the speed. Get a terran (or Boron drive) and Bob's your uncle. Incidentally I found the Earlking drive - which is worse than Terran. The speed - I don't even...

Then I checked the foods in Avarice and Windfall. There is nothing. Not much in Windfall either - only ingredients. So I chose to erect the first major production for foodstuffs and medstuff in Avarice 1. The products are technically illegal because VIG has Police authority there. But I never really see VIG patrols go beyond the Tidebreak sector.
So: what could go wrong? I wanted to play Boron food empire, now I do it as Terran. Who would have thought?

I already have a nice fleet and plenty of credits, but I still enjoy finding the random abandoned ship to claim! I also continue to enjoy the new lighting system!!

That ship is one of the first things I grab when starting a new game. I like the Osprey a lot and I keep mine forever. Its so useful for many things an M class can do. The industrial looking bridge is very immersive imho.
Next game start I need to research and find some of the other abandoned ships. Company Regard is the only place I've found one but there are more afaik.

Have a nice day

Don't know how you guys find these if randomly coming across them, space is too big.

I usually do preliminary exploration of a sector myself, and then I send in one of a few explorer ships (mostly repurposed "starter ships" from early game) to go in and finish mapping the sector for me, and they'll find and guard these abandoned ships for me (if they are out there) to come back and retrieve. For awhile I had them automatically retrieve those ships for me, but I was ending up with a collection of junk ships, so I'd rather see for myself if the ship is worth keeping. This one was.

I have found a couple ships like this on my own, but it is pretty rare. I don't look up any "cheat sheets" on where to find these, so it's all RNG to me even if it isn't truly.

Systematic exploration.
long sermon how to meticulously explore
And then there is my NPC pilots:"We've found a ship!". Which happens more often. Found a Boron freighter in the new sectors that way.
There is a paranid capship somewhere, too. I never really go for it. And next time I forgot most of the places I found them again.

Used Asgards (now my favorite "fleet carrier" in X4) to stage an attack a while back:

My current fleet contains around six Asgards and a bunch of destroyers. Exploring the newly-unlocked Boron space.

Six Asgards? Jesus, I never had even one. You see I played hundrreds of hours and just turned boarding noob. I have found an Asgard fighting in The Void - a tricky target but I have turned to lolicate boarding by just driving by and not giving a damn about the marines. Quantity - not quality and who cares for surface elements? Not me anymore. Syn and Erlking are my entry tickets - and they are mighty tickets. Yonder playthroughs saw me try with Boas, I think, but I never found the sweet spot. I will board an Asgard, maybe not in the Void, but who knows - maybe it will jump back to Getsu Fune?
I could do some alerts to notify me of Asgard, but itsa me: Lazy Gamer.

Must have sold off one or lost it during my extermination of the Xenon. Here's my current setup:

X4 Battle for Hatikvah-2.jpg

This map is the current situation. I'm building my first defense station south of the Haitcvah Choice I, east gates.
I just had a skirmish with a couple of Red Ks and eliminated them both with no Cap ship losses; but I lost dozens of fighters and a couple of gunships.

this will be my last big excursion / offensive / suicide mission before I upgrade to the latest. GL HF
[icebreaker this is]

Bernd Lehan on the state of X4 and the future 7.00 update

Two of the major features for next year's major update:
  • optional late game feature for advanced players/saves called "existential crisis" where players can take on a faction. Details to be seen
  • better controls of your ships in third person mode

plus more things they are working on, but can't announce yet. There are still big plans for X4

Der Bernd. He's like the soul of the whole thing. I wouldn't have given thought about it 10 years ago but now he's nearing an age where people consider how things move on without the people retiring. I'm sure he is full of creative ideas still, but how long will he stick to active duty?

Awesome.

I must confess that Elite's flight model and combat sometimes spoils other games for me. I tried playing X4 last night, picking fights with Xenon because that was my mood (combat), and I just couldn't get into it. Elite gets repetitious in scenarios, but the individual fights usually feel pretty unique. X4 gets repetitious in individual fights (the pilot AI is terribly predictable and kinda boring) but the scenarios can often feel pretty unique. Last night I wanted unique fights, and X4 let me down.

Oh how I wish these two games would marry and make a beautiful baby!

X4 "engineering" is completely fine. There is no need to aggravate it with the stupid tosh from ED.
