Game Discussions X4 this looks Very good

Jenner

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
They are well known for their really long support of older titles though. They still had updates for X: Terran Conflict even when Rebirth was out a looong time. ( Last X: TC update was December 17 ). Their launches were always wonky, but you can clearly see their love for their games.

Yup. To me it's the same as Hello Games. People give them a lot of credit for updating and fixing No Man's Sky and they should be given such credit. That doesn't excuse the launch (or the over hyping) but if at the end you have a fun game to play, that has to count for something.

X3TC & Albion Prelude were handily my favorite space games prior to ED coming along, and even then it's really just the multiplayer aspect of the ED that I like better. When it comes to gameplay, real meat on the bones stuff, X games have ED beat hands down. I recognize the XR was a stumble, but I never joined the hate train on that one because while it was a joke compared to X3, it was still a lot of fun in and of itself and I never felt screwed like so many others did. If X4 manages to capture the same space magic some of its predecessors did, I won't be booting up ED again for a very long time.

The X-Series got 4 Games so far. And 3 of em were Great while 1 was a Failure.
Chances the Fifth Game will be Good is 3 to 1.
I would say thats good Odds.
Well Worth giving it a Chance.

From the Videos you can See that the Game is in a far more Finished State than Star Citizen.
Given the Videos they set on Release it seems that the Game is likely already in a Playable State right now.
Albeit I do assume that they Cut Short on the QA and Bugfixing Allowance they are likely already Running right now.
So I am almost entirely sure the Game will have another completely Botched Launch with alot of Bugs *gg* Because they wanted to Throw out the Game before Christmas.
But these will likely be Stamped out fairly Fast.
Assumably within the First 2-3 Weeks and thus before Christmas Hits.

If Nothing Else I have Pre Ordered it just now.
Nobody is Perfect. And while X-Rebirth might have been a bummer.
The other Three Games and their Extensions are enough for me to Trust em that much.

I actually hope for the *USUAL* bad launch, that means I can wait half a year or so before a total upgrade of my PC :D

I will still most likely pre-order as soon as I get my lazy behind off of the couch to get a Paysafe Card ^^

I enjoyed the "failure". Though I got it many years after release.

There is only so many bugs you can find before release without a 100+ QA tester team. So enjoy your public beta on release day. ;)

I don't think it's smart to align release dates with holiday seasons. You're competing against larger franchises which all aim for fall. I would go for a January to February release window, when the big hits of the last year taper off and it's not summer yet to go outdoor and forget about video games.

It's not really an either or. The X games are the best for being a space mogul, ED is a better spacedowhateveryoulikeulator.

The X games always had basic FM's due to the concentration on mogulling, hopefully not this time.

I'll give it a shot. The trailer looks interesting. Not going to pre-order though. ED taught me not to do that sort of thing. I should be able to get it cheaper if I wait a little while.

Finally a new space game!

I have not even paid any attention to this and got an email from Egosoft.

I will definitely buy this!

Well that and X:Rebirth was .. rather meh. But definitely keeping an eye out, maybe they can swing back to what the series was around the time of X2: The Threat.

And what was it around the time of X2? A space empire building game? Gee I wonder what the rest of the games are, if not that.

It's still going to be a space mogul game, because that's what X is. However, some of the other aspects are being expanded on a little per the Q&A I linked.

It certainly should, especially considering how much people pay for early access games these days just to have many of them completely fail, or just released bare bones never to be updated again.

I like the idea they'll grow out the universe through dlc's, even paid for. At least that way they'll keep supporting it along the way and we as players should get a long time out of it.

Well its partially a good thing tough.
Industry Grows with Money.
And the more Money an Industry has the faster it Grows and Produces more high Quality stuff.
Sure the amount of Duds in between where people just wanted to make a quick buck without effort and then failed miserably also Increases.
But the General Tendency of this is that the overall Quality and Scale of Games is Rising dramatically.

I mean could you have Imagined a Game like this just 10 years ago ? :)

Hell. I still Remember Playing Freelancer.
I Finished the Game in one Night after getting it.
And it was awesome back in the day.

Looking at it today I would likely think what kind of Retro Crab is that :p
I mean just let that sink for a Minute. Back then this was a Grandious Game. It had an Awesome Story and Insanely Good Graphics for a Space Game.
If you compare it to Standards nowdays it would be a Shoddy excuse for a Game.
Not because its any worse than it was back then. But simply because the Average Quality of Games has increased so Tremendously that we cant even Imagine it differently anymore.

X games let you interact with the universe in a more tangible way then ED. ED excels in the flying part, hands down, but it's quite shallow in all other regards compared to X3. The perfect game for me would be the flight model from ED combined with everything else from X. That would be a game that would be really hard to put down.

I'd rather go with I-War's flight model, but X is worth it for the dynamic economy. And vast, huge solar arrays. Glittering under a red sun. While they are all mine.

That's the trade off, good mogulling in a restricted universe or good flying in a galactic one. Both at once may not be possible.

Or just own both.

Still need a modern mission based flight sim (freespace3) to complete it.

As long as "do whatever you like" is pew pew. ;)

Nobodies forced to play, if you don't like it stop.
