XB User Turned PC Player

I used to have consoles, the last was an Xbox 360, but I've had consoles since the Sega Master System.
But I've had a PC for over 20 years.
After my Xbox died, I vowed I'll never go back to the consoles.
While my pc is old, it can still do everything (except play Blu-rays) a console can, and better. And do more.

Sure, consoles are super convenient, and "cheap" to buy, but other than that. They have nothing on a half decent PC. :)

The best feature of a gaming pc by far, is the ability to still play games on it from 1990. :p
One machine to rule them all!

I play Elite on my XB1 for 2 reasons -- commanding from my couch and an 84 inch screen. Those overrule the benefits of the PC for me personally.

If consoles were modular and you could upgrade them easily with third party kit, I might look at them. As long as they are proprietary and inflexible I have zero interest.

Avoid VR and that fragile illusion shall be safe. :D

While i don't have an 84" TV, as much as I'd like one. (I'd need a much better job to afford one, not to mention a bigger lounge! I can't fit anything bigger than a 55" here)
My PC is hooked up to my puny (and only) 32" TV. And I command from the couch.
Using a gamepad. Lol

All the benefits of a console, non of the drawbacks. :)

Lol so basically "If consoles were PCs, I'd have one!"

:D

Rep! :)

In case you didnt know, it is possible to ask Support for a one-time transfer of your account from console to pc.

Yes, but the only thing they transfer over is your total assets, in my case that is the least useful thing. Sure it's nice to have a pile of credits waiting, but I've spent quite a bit of real money on livery. Having that flushed into the void including some hard to get chrome and black friday paintjobs, not to mention the David Braben bobblehead, is a bit too much for me to take the leap. I'd do it in a heartbeat if they could, and they get another copy of the game sold.

I started playing Elite on Console when it was first introduced to the Game Preview Program. Loved the game so much, I built a PC to play it.

I just finished said PC this past weekend and after only a few hours with it, I am never going back. The menu's are instant. Rez looks so amazing. Sounds much better. All around, a more immersive experience.

I have since uninstalled the game from my console 50% thru Federation Midshipman Rank and my Sol Permit. Starting over never felt so good!

I did the same thing last year. I haven't touched my Xbox Version since! ;)

Having a gaming PC is a nice addition to my other gaming options. I just pre-ordered the new EVGA 1080ti FTW3 to add even more raw horsepower to my rig! :D

Not sure why any of that should not be doable with a PC. Even more so since thats how I play Elite on PC :p

I play my PC version from my living room using an XB1 Elite Controller. I send the PC's HDMI out to my 55" SONY XBR HDTV. The "physical" gaming experience is identical to either my Xbox One or my PS4 Pro. Only difference is a solid/locked 60fps in every game I play with all the setting cranked to ULTRA or beyond. :)

The difference in performance and graphic fidelity in ED between the PC and the XB1 is significant. I will never go back.

Each platform has it's advantages but even though I own a PS 3 and (my granddaughter) a Wii I will always be a PC fan.

What are your specs on your new build. Just so I can drool and wish.

and....to my point, this is in no way a knock on console....which is perfectly fine.....its simply a statement of personal choice having experienced both.

Do you guys make use of all the "extras" for the PC that are not available on the XB1 version -- ie: head tracking, voice attack, HOTAS, etc?

I recently did the same, as in this week. I ordered a HOTAS (the Thrustmaster 16,000). I am still re-running the tutorials; but it is much better in terms of immersive controls. I put in a transfer request for my funds today.

Please tell me OP, that you have some sort of HOTAS?

It transforms Elite.

I used to be a pc gamer and played about every Elite kind of game on it, my X52 is still laying around somewhere.
But I just grew tired of having to upgrade my gaming rig every other year, or the messing around with drivers etc.
I'm over 50 now retired and lazy, I love to sit in my recliner a nice Scotch on the side and play ED on my 52 inch plasma.
Xbox One is my platform now and when the Scorpio means a better ED then I'll buy that one too.

Pc must be build to be able to run game properly.
Game must be build to run properly on console.

Yes a high end pc will always be better, the console is just more convenient.

No I don't have anything like that, only advantage I use is better button mapping on the Xbox one elite controller.
