Xbox One Flight Stick working...

I have managed to get a Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X to work with Xbox One using a Cronusmax device. I have a Cronusmax due to some games not having southpaw controls and I wondered if I could use it get this working and I did. I've put a link to a short YouTube video that overviews how I got it done. There are links in the video description for how I set up the flight stick (a PDF) and the actual layout file for the Cronusmax device. There's another device that can do this too called a Titan One but I don't have any experience with it. I don't advocate using these devices for anything but better accessibility.

My thoughts? It's very cool to use but I'm much more precise with the controller. Of course, I have thousands and thousands of hours using an Xbox controller so that is not unexpected. I'm getting better each time I use it and really feel like it's a more immersive game when I do use it. I think I can still tweak some dead zones and controls to make it even better but it works pretty well now. It was a daunting task setting up the Cronusmax so if anyone needs some advice or help getting it running, let me know. I spent so long doing it that I can probably give you some pointers if needed.

What I would like to know if this setup will enable me to assign combo presses like fa off or targeting subsystems to a single button. That would be awesome. I'm hoping that Frontier activates keyboard functionality for this in the future.

The Cronusmax device usually costs $60. I already had the flight stick but a new T. flight is usually $50 or less on sale.

I set mine up like the Xbox One controller so that when I hold a face button such as X, I get the prompt to choose something with the d-pad. Since I mapped the d-pad to the top hat rocker switch, it's pretty easy to get access to several things like that. With that being said, the cronusmax is a versatile device and with much tinkering, a lot could be done. I was unable to get combo button presses to work right but I might just did not spend enough time trying.

From my quick search I saw a stick for $48 on newegg and the various versions of Cronusmax from about $45-$60. Not sure but I think you may want to get the "Plus" version.

Alright before investing for the setup, can I connect the flight stick to the cronus after the setup on the one right? If it needs to stay on the pc I'm in for a bad time.

Sorry for the delay in answering I've been working a lot. YOu have to have a PC close by so that the software can run in the background and send all the commands from flight stick to Cronus device. So yeah, you need that PC close by or no go.

I am definitely looking at this solution but my only concern is that I won't be able to use all flight controls at the same time (elevator, aileron, yaw, and vertical and lateral thrusters) but will have to still switch between standard and alternate flight controls.....is this the case or can I map it to not need that switch?

any help would be great

I could be wrong, but I believe you can only map the buttons that are currently on the controller (no hotkeys/shortcuts etc.), so depending on how you have your xb1 controller set up you may still have to use standard and alternating flight controls. It is pretty easy to make it so that you yaw on a roll/into a roll (or whatever it is). That will make it so you do not have to switch to alternate flight controls.

I wish there was a way to remove the click for alternate flight controls.

I may have to try that!

Console controllers are an abomination - the game simply isn't fun for me using one.

I wouldn't go that far. The XB1 controller is different than a HOTAS of course, but I find it to be a totally viable way to control the ship once you learn and master all the various button combos. I purchased the new Elite Controller and will be receiving mine on the 27th. While it lacks Macros which is a HUGE disappointment, having those additional paddles on the underside of the controller chassis should make switching Firegroups a lot faster and easier. And best of all, you will be able to do this switching without taking your thumb off the right stick or triggers. :D

Do you think it's possible with a steel battalion controller I have one I hit a wall on trying to make it work
