The exploration reset is interesting. I was just heading off in a Diamondback (first time I flew one!) last night. So this should be a gold rush for explorers. Get out there, scan, and get back quickly for the First Discovered bonus...

And then do the same again in a couple of months!!

EDIT - And it's great they're not doing a total Commander reset too at release. I haven't played quite as hard as I might, as I'm not a "just for the Cr" player. Given the incentive to build a Vulture and an explorer ship will get me into the pilot's seat. And I'm really interested in how CQC will behave. Quake Arena for the ED generation?

So glad that merits will stay. I too am very grateful for this. I'm ready for some powerplay, with a side of CQC! :D

Would have been nice to get more warning.... I am 2.9 ly from the core, and now I have no way to get back in time to turn in the data that I will now lose
I doubt you will lose it. I have been out in the deep on several (PC) upgrades and not lost stuff.

Isn't that a bit confusing scheduling, having the GPP CQC update happening on the same day as the Colossalwhateveritis reveal?
They want to be able to stand up at Gamescom and say that you can play CQC now. So it is perfectly understandable.

All they have said is that you will lose the first discovered tag. They have not said that you will lose anything else from exploring. Losing the first discovered tags in inevitable, since eventually there will be a merge with the live galaxy, and those systems will, in a lot of cases (especially close to the bubble), have been first discovered ages ago by people in the PC/Mac galaxy. And they will obviously take precedence.

Have the downloads started yet? I've left my xbox on standby in the hope it will be downloaded when I get home from work :)

Yeah I figured as much the other day:

Personally I think Microsoft are delaying it on purpose so that they can flick the switch during Phil Spencer's Gamescom briefing on Tuesday.

Phil Spencer goes live with his briefing at 3pm BST, the servers are down till 4pm BST. At some point during his briefing he's going show the new trailer and say "it's available now" at which point you'll be able to download the update.

I read somewhere that 1.4 (CQC Update) was implementing three new ships in addition to the CQC ones. Is this confirmed?

1.4 (CQC Update) is a future PC/Mac update that will happen once the retail Xbox One launch happens, this will bring CQC to the PC/Mac amongst other things.

So yes there will be 3 new ships coming to the main game in the 1.4 update (Imperial Eagle, Federal Dropship Mk. II, Federal Gunship) but not until the retail release of the Xbox One version.

Oh I know. I was pointing out that the First Discovered bonus is now available again for everything in the Xbox version once again. :) I can pop off and scan my Earthlikes again, with a good range of other decent systems in between, and get all of that cash again.

Yeah, once we're in the PC/Mac galaxy, it's going to be tough to find new worlds, but the same rules will then apply to everyone. I'm mercenary enough to take my bonuses when they're there for the taking.

Mt bad. I get confused between what constitutes an update and GPP build :( was looking forward to flying around like a little ie bird with lots of guns lol

Hi everyone,

The second Xbox One GPP build is going live today, there are significant server changes so the game will be offline from 9.30 am BST and will be online again by 16.00 BST. Here are the highlights of the build:

- Implemented Friends management, including Wings, Voice Chat and GamerCards

Thanks

Michael

Everyone is talking about Powerplay, but you guys are missing the main feature.

Functional Wings are here!

Michael, will we get proper support for sharing Game DVR clips and screenshots prior to the "Full Game" launch?

At the moment, although you can record clips with Game DVR you can't share them to XBL's Upload using Upload Studio, nor share screenshots.

If that restriction is because the game is not yet the proper public release, that doesn't make any sense because it's actually still possible to take Game DVR clips and export them to OneDrive, from where they can be shared directly or uploaded to YouTube. Plus you can stream via Twitch...

There is also a work around for sharing videos on upload. Edit the clip and put another game video in front of it. Even if it's just a single unnoticeable frame. It then allows you to share it normally.

Unfortunately no work around for screenies.
