Xbox series x questions need answers ask away here

I play on a decent but not top tier PC, this seems OK to me. Not GREAT but it doesn't look like it would get in the way of enjoying the game.
It looked a lot better on my Xbox One X and was in 4K. There's no reason for that feature to be downgraded on a superior console like Series X. Its a bug which didn't appear before on previous hardware.

Imagine upgrading your PC's GPU and finding your game's graphic quality being downgraded.

Not sure if this is a Series X or FDev problem. When I log out and log back in at a HGE site to gather mfg mats, since I got the Series X, the HGE is no longer there. Did FDev nerf the "log out then in" procedure? Does the Series X keep the game running in the background, hence I'm not really logging out? Anyone seen this issue? Thanks.

Solved! Series X has the "Quick Resume" feature. This leaves the game running in the background after exit. To log out for the purpose of re-logging, simply press the XBox button, cursor down to Elite Dangerous, press the menu button (three lines button), then scroll down to "Quit". Then restart the game. "Quick Resume" should restart automatically with game restart.

This is interesting there has been a similar discussion over on the PlayStation forum about how the game seems anecdotally to look worse on PS5 than it did on PS4 Pro.

What appears to be downgraded on Series X? Is it related to the quality mode appearing not to work as it did before Fleet Carrier launch?

Yep, 4k Quality mode looks like it was downgraded after one of the fleet carrier patches, people noticied that effects like engine heat distortion went MIA. In addition (see my previous posts for this), ground textures now appear to be sub-1080p, as if they are running on the first Xbox One and not Xbox One X/Series X.

I think the same happened on the PS4 Pro, there is an issue on the issue tracker acknowledged but, it's never been resolved.

Edit: it was reported on Xbox too see https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/20532

It would be very odd indeed if at least some of the more prominent bugs in the base game had not been looked at, given that we now know for sure that the base game is being at least partially reworked as part of Odyssey.

So my wild guess is that this is most likely to be fixed when the console versions of Odyssey are being shipped. If they dont take the opportunity to fix it then, it`ll never be fixed.

Bugs like that are among the reasons why I no longer play the game. And the devs have already said that legacy bugs won't be fixed for Odyssey.

If by "devs" you mean CM`s then I don't believe a word of it. They are too far removed from the sharp end of the project to provide any insight on the subject. It's most likely cautious responses to specific questions that have been interpreted as a flat "No".

If the team have lifted the hood on the base game (which we know they have based on what we have seen with UI changes in the alpha) then that fact in of itself increases the chances that bugs will get squashed as a consequence.

Exactly ... "Legacy" bugs won't be fixed because everything is moving from the "legacy" platform to the Odyssey platform.
