Xenobiology study of Thargoid Ship Logograms - Compendium

So far, the logograms are apparently entirely randomly assigned. In the hundreds logged there's no specific pattern yet.

Although now with the Basilisk sharing the same outer circles and a new set of inner, there might be a pattern that was lacking previously.

Personally I've long held that the inner represents a queen mark, and the outer just a serial number, but that seems less likely now too :(

Could this be a ranking system? The inner blob being a faction and the outer circles being types of ranks?

It would be interesting to correlate aggressiveness with the symbols? that way we might be able to determine a correlation between our own ranking systems?!

Both of those questions have been speculated before. In regards to the second one, we never found a correlation between the symbols and aggressiveness. But maybe that won't be the case with these new Basilisks.

Could the logograms be a relic of the time when Thargoids were used by Guardians for work and civil war? Then, as time went on, genetic drift may has given us a variety of what were once clearly engineered brandings. Thargoid culture might preserve it's semblance through preferred selection such as attractiveness, holiness, and/or a caste system.

Could well be.

I think an interesting question is - who are the markings for. To me they seem added on after the fact, like they're painted on after, and I think it's odd that there's no logos or markings of any kind on the scavengers or ground bases - which is what I'd expect from a hive entity.

We know Thargoids are Hive-minded creatures, so identifying the drones via a non-unique visual icon seems like it's redundant. It's almost like the markings are an afterthought to identify them to someone/something else that's not part of the hive mind...

It's unclear how large the Thargoid hive-mind is - are they like Ants and Bees where there's one queen per hive/colony (so, one queen for the Oresrians and one for the Klaxians). Or are they a more social hive-mind where there might be multiple queens controlling multiple hives/colonies all working towards a larger goal (so, dozens of queens working together form the Oresrians and another set of dozens of queens forms the klaxians - but there's no/little interaction between the hive-mind of each queen, so they need to communicate in other ways to co-ordinate group efforts?)?

If it's the former, the presence of external visual identifiers might indicate that they marks are for human allies to identify individual drones - for example (we know Thargoids have human allies).
If it's the latter, it might be to identify which drones belong to which queen - though why this would be necessary is a question too.

Same sort of question applies to why they'd need to stamp the logo on the Barnacles - all logos are the same, and there's no Barnacles without logos, so it's clearly identifying them someone else - or, the Barnacles aren't of Thargoid origin and they're just using them, but then... why paint it on the drones too?!

I just got back from the core and have started experimenting with the Basilisks. First few encounters were scripted just like those of the Cyclops variant.

On my 4th NHSS 6 I dropped 5 meta-alloys. The Basilisk scooped them up and proceeded to summon a second Thargoid ship, which turned out to be Cyclops variant. It appears that it doesn't summon a second Basilisk.

Later I will be submitting all of my logograms to the folder Moribus created.

Speculation is that the Basilisk are Cyclops that have got older?

If accurate, that means the logograms on the Basilisk are either re-painted on or are an organic effect that changes over time - although there doesn't seem any specific similarity between 1,2,3 and 4,5,6... And if was changing over time you'd also (surely) see variation and in-between stages?

Well if it's a more mature stage of the Interceptor it would explain the extra heart, thicker skin, faster speed, increased size of thargon swarm, better primary weapon and improved combat evasiveness.

basilisk logo classified by the pattern of the first circle, I found only 3 type of first circle for the basilisk.

cmd stark junior.

You guys probably talked about it, but what if this:

Is the thargoid version of this?

If what roams the Pleiades are not thargoids but just drones deployed by the thargoids it could be a way of classifying them. Or if this drones were created as a bioweapon by someone else it could be helpful for them to keep track of their creations.
