HOSTILE problems

Ferris thank you - I blundered in where angels fear to go in armoured tanks and have got myself into a lot of trouble - being shot at by every federation ship and aligned space station. I am regarded as HOSTILE but have not murdered anybody and was just trading. It seems that I must have allied with the wrong faction (who can tell) and the Federation declared war with them while my back was turned - I went to bed one night and the next morning I was hostile and people with whom I was trading with as friendly were now shooting at me.

My question is how can I get out of Hostile when I do not know how I got in?

Secondly do I have to retreat to a different faction to get out of this ( I am only operating a Type 6 freighter (I have been resisting upgrading to ASP and losing freight capacity) and my gun power is very limited)?

No new mission since Ensign, been doing BB for federation friends only for a while now.
I've noticed a change in the mission result panel, the blue/red triangles are gone, maybe we should see if this guide needs updating ?

The OP needs to add examples of minor/major factions, and systems that contain examples of allied and non-allied. Also, showing how the System Map can be used to get an overview of factions, etc. would be helpful.

Basically, too much explicit detail too soon, and not enough background to be really useful for those in the early stages, or even those who are just getting around to Naval missions. Examples drawn from real systems would help immensely.

Simple bullets like:

Major Factions:
- Federation
- Empire
- etc...

Minor Factions (Federation):
- Equality For Lugh
- etc...

Also, a note about how the permit "missions" are not always bugged. In some cases you will get the permit, and the rank progression mission will be there when you arrive, as clearly stated in the "invite". In the Federation/PLX case, it's obviously bugged since there's an explicit statement that a Federation operative will be contacting you, which never happens in PLX...

Thanks!

So... I've been stuck at Knight since December or possible January. I'm fully allied with Empire after selling a bunch of exploration data all over the place a couple of weeks ago. But never mind that.

Thing is, when 1.1 rolled out and missing permits were awarded I was given Summerland and Facece permits (I already had Achenar). Arn't you supposed to get those for ranks later than Knight?

Since accepting the PLX permit mission I have had no NAVAL progressions apart from PLX missions that I can't do as I already have the permit. How do you tell if this is blocking progression?

Can somebody please explain what the fine is under my reputation for the empire. It's allied, then outsider ( just done my first mission) and underneath that, fine 13,422cr 22h 5m. Do I have to find the station that I took the mission from and pay it off there? Trouble is I can't remember where that was. Thanks in advance for your help, CMDR HAGMAR😁

Hello.

The Empire is angry against you. Either you destroyed a clean ship in an Empire system (you are then considered as a pirate), or you did something wrong with them (carrying illegal merchandises and getting caught, whatever...)
You have 22h 5m to pay your fine, or you will become Wanted in all Empire systems until you pay it - meaning that all the prime hunters will be allowed to destroy you. A bad idea except if you plan to become a famous pirate...

To pay your fine, you need to land in a station controlled by the Empire (or in any Empire-controlled station) and to go into the "Contact" menu: there, you'll have the possibility to pay your fine.

When a mission is marked as "CONSIDERED AS ILLEGAL", you must not be caught (i.e. scanned) by the police while transporting the illegal merchandise. When you transport illegal commodities (you need to open the System window and look at the station you want to land in: there's a "Illegal commodities" part for each of them), you also need not to be caught. There are multiple possibilities to have a fine in that game :)

Thanks for that. What happened is that I'd got caught earlier carrying personal weapons (forgot I had them) and I'd paid my fine, the amount I quoted. I then did the smuggling for the first mission and was extremely careful not to get caught and made it to dock without getting scanned.
When I checked my status, there it was. I checked the contact page and had no fines outstanding, I've docked at another empire station (different sector) and checked contacts again, again nothing outstanding.
Checking my reputation and it's clear, just allied and outsider. A bug perhaps? Phew, at least that's cleared up. Many thanks again, 😀

Is it true that you can gain reputation without doing missions and just by trading and nothing else?

I've seen some post saying
trading at a profit gives you positive rep
trading at a loss make you lose reputation

I have never seen any proof like screen shots.

IS this stuff true? Can you gain reputation by trade alone?

I've become friendly and allied which certain groups purely through trading. So I'm guessing for the smaller factions, trading does increase your reputation otherwise I would not be friendly or allied.

The bigger factions like Empire and Federation do not seem to have changed though.

I wonder if anyone can help me?

I don't get to spend much time playing, and have thus far spent a lot of time trying to complete the first rank progression mission to find combat stabilisers. So far I have managed to source some, but the mission time expired before I could get back to the station I took the mission from.

Now I can't find the mission again to hand over my cargo!

any idea how to find a station with the mission again? Or is it just fly around and hope?

Thanks.

My god this feature of the game feels like it's been slapped together over a weekend, with almost no thought for those trying to work it all out.

Anyone know when I can expect to get a Sol permit from the Federation? I'm at Petty Officer (Midshipman + 1 rank) and I'm friendly with both the Federation super-faction and 6-8 minor factions around Sol. Shouldn't the invite be automatic at this point?

Just wondering do you really need to get friendly or allied with the minor factions or could you do a bunch of mission all over the galaxy to get the same effect?

Still being neutral with lots of minor factions but have done enough good across lots of them to get friendly or allied with the major?

I was just wondering if anyone can help, I am now allied with about 7 alliance sub factions and friendly with about 3. Does anyone know how many more factions I need to become allied with in order to get my reputation to friendly with the Alliance.

There isn't any progression or rank system for the alliance yet. I imagine one will be added in one of the next two big updates.

Brun1234, I received my SOL permit from doing tasks in and around 42 AQUILAE which is at least 100 LY away from SOL. I took some time to get it.

StoneRose, I you fly around with Combat Stabilisers for too long you will get a bad rep - they are illegal in most Federation ports. It is better to sell them in anarchy ports or ports that allow them and move on. Next time a pencil and paper.

OP

Thanks for the information; I am so new that it will give me a good start. I wonder if it needs updating in any way since it's been awhile since the OP.

Thanks for the response, does this include the reputation? I know there is no rank system but does the reputation system still work?

I am a Warrant Officer with the Federation.
The Federation as a whole has me as "Allied"
Every Federation faction in the whole galaxy lists me as "Allied"

So, why do I keep getting communiques telling me to go to Ross 128?

How can I advance to Ensign if I'm already allied with everyone?

Thanks,

Outlier
