Yong Yeas take on Elite Dangerous Odyssey (Not Good)

He had something to say, like everyone else, but in the end the fact that he doesn't play the game made it all seemed like he picked it up just because it's the hot news of the moment, and clicks are never bad.

I was expecting him to comment on the low pay missions set at 22,000 ly distance, from the Steam negative comments, not a word. You have to play this game to realize the enormity of it. He doesn't. Oh well, he played his part.

Why would I listen to a person, that forms an aggressive face whenever trying to spell a F or V, and ontop of that didn't even play the game? Judging on any of his other videos, the guy is clearly searching for hate attention. He will try, but it's not easy to mimic an Angry Joe, if there's nothing to show of but passive aggression.

YongYea isn't even in the same league as Angry Joe when it comes to outrage bait. I actually like both of them. Angry Joe does more playthroughs but wears his emotions on his skin. YongYea mainly reads articles about how game companies messed up a launch or about greedy business practices. I've seen several vids from both and Angry Joe is more opinionated by far, therefore more controversial. All anyone has to do is watch his No Man's Sky angry review. YongYea is milquetoast compared to that. The thing is though, I think Angry Joe and YongYea are right most of the time, and people just get too defensive over any criticism. It's not like everyone stopped playing Odyssey, despite the fact it's a beta. And NMS went from a crappy, bare-bones marketing lie to an actual good game in a few years.

That's not going to help. It's like taking a shovel to waves on the sand. ED, and FD now has a multitude of bad press. Look at the root cause and not keep our heads in the sand.
The root cause is the little kids on Steam that think they have been cheated out of their moms money because they are fed up with Early Access Beta's being crap!
I have looked at and commented on some of those bad reviews and I have never ran across any of the issues they are literally crying about and I have a utterly crap PC!

7 year old PC with i7 3200 and 16GB on board ram with a GTX980 with 6Gb ram the PC runs soo hot because some of the fans don't work I have to open the window to cool the room down I'm pretty sure the thermal paste has turned to dust on my CPU as I've never removed the original Cooler and the side panel is off to help cool the PC down. I get 30FPS max now that I have lowered GFX from High to Medium and I can comfortably play ED:O I've never seen any of the issues the cry babies on steam complain about and most of them profess to having a computer that is clearly much much better than my PC.

So because it works for you, the others are lying? Ok.

No but good of you to just see it from their perspective. They are having issues with their PC's that are much better than my computer and my computer works fine and the thing you take away from this is that I am saying they are lying?

How about you consider the proposition that they are not running EDO properly or they have something else causing their issues. Again most of the crying about the issues I have not seen and I'm running a PC that was good 7 years ago and is now a piece of crap. were talking about people that wan't to run games at 120FPS when your eyes can't even discern the difference between that and 60FPS (please I'm tierd of the whole higher FPS is better shizzle).

You do know who looks like the crybaby when you type drivel like this right?

LOL @ the eyes can't tell the difference part. They most certainly can. Eyes don't have a refresh rate.

Go look at a monitor set to 144hz just in normal windows browsing. Now set it down to 60hz. You'll notice that the mouse seems to be ghosting, web pages don't scroll as smooth, moving windows looks choppy, etc.. And that's just normal windows browsing.

Now try playing in VR on something like an Oculus, and see how you feel if the framerate dips from 90 to 60 a lot.

There's a reason a lot of competitive FPS players use CRT monitors with high refresh rates.

You assume thousands of people are doing something wrong, rather than there being something wrong with the game. Take a look at the issue tracker.

There's different definitions of "comfortably". This is the "stone age comfortably".

Also Cyberpunk had never any issues on my machine 50hrs in, surely all this media outrage over it is the fault of the Steam crybabies.

The corporate stockholm syndrome defense is strong with this one.
Yong's video was largly based around the negative reviews from steam so yeah the Steam cry babies.

posting crap about cry babies posting crap makes me out to be a cry baby? What does that make you?
Some of you guys are so emotionally attached to this game it borders on mental health issues. You label legitimate complaints of paying customers as a bunch of cry babies because you claim to have no issues. Your alternate reality world is being threatened and you must belittle all who dare threaten it. Yes, it’s childish of you.

This thread is about a popular YouTuber with a large following commenting on the outrage over this DLC not only on Steam but all over social media. It got his attention because he discusses shady business practices of the gaming industry. It’s approaching 120,000 views. It’s going to go much higher and you think FD’s problem is just some entitled kids...lol. Go enjoy your alternate reality.

at this point, I'm not sure if you ever watched it since in the beginning, he mentioned how many reviews the base version has. and since this is a video about what happens with this expansion then it's pretty clear that ... it's about the Oddysey.

There are 20 second memes on Tick Tock with higher views than that so what? 2 of those views were mine.

What I am belittleing is the way he has just leapt aboard and published a video based solely on poor reviews and not even bothered to look into the game himself. If he had he would realise that not all planets are shiney and muddy, that not everyone gets crashes and the game actually works. Yes there are bugs but Frontier are on hand to fix them and are currently doing so. All this does not amount to the click bait title he gave the video I was a Sub of Yong I unsubscribed after I witnessed the level of his journalistic abilities with this video.

Now if you will excuse me I'm off to play ED:O now that it has finished downloading.

Angry Joe has passion and life in his reviews, and yes, they're most of the time justified because he's actually playing those games inside out, AND streams it on Twitch, or any other platform. Yin-Yang in opposition feels like watching a metal toaster on tranquilizers. The guy comes over extremely cold and calculating, like he perfectly know what he's doing, and unfortunately his mimic displays there's more behind the curtain he'd like to admit. Angry Joe in opposition does his stuff out of emotion. He gets all emotional for games with positive reviews as well.

Btw., the reason why I subbed to AJ, was the Rome Total War 2 review. A classic if you ask me. I was laughing tears watching his review. Nevertheless, given the community backlash, and for sure I was one of them as modder, and a supportive user that preordered any of their games, they eventually fixed it after a copple of weeks. But for me the damage had been done, because, I made the single most big mistake you can ever make with PC games. Having expectations that no developer could ever life up for.

Was it their fault? Was it my fault? I don't care. I didn't stay around the community because beyond RTW2 they started doing those Warcraft meddlys I never really enjoyed, and I simply got oversaturrated with TW titles, which resulted in losing interest. The natural progress of searching new ground. However, the whole series was so remarkable for me, that I would frequently return to play RTW with EB Mod, and sometimes a modded Empire. I don't look back in anger. I focus on the positives.

I am glad that you have enjoyed EDO, however:

1. Do you think we are lying when we complain about orange sidewinders, missions that do not work, and the plethora of other issues?
2. Does your favorable experience give you the right to dismiss over 3500 other peoples' experiences?
3. Does your personal experience trump every other experience?
4. Does any opinion other than yours even exist to you?

30 fps for serious pvp is unacceptable
30 fps for VR makes people extremely nauseous

:)

Why waste your breath? He’s just a troll.

You're assuming YongYea is hiding something "behind the curtain" just because he isn't as outgoing as AJ. They have different personality types, that's all. We don't know if either is a nice guy in person, or if they are douchnozzles. Imo Yong Yea is just more reserved. He's also Asian, and as someone who is Half-Asian myself I can tell you that from the time we are children it's ingrained in us to be very careful about showing our emotions. It's a cultural difference. But that doesn't matter as much for American Asians, and people can very outgoing or very reserved regardless of race or nationality.

Also, it has to be said YongYea's approach is very similar to Alex from the AJ Show. Alex is the "news/research guy" and does his job well. They don't agree on a lot of things (you can tell) but they still get along and respect each other.

Yin Yang represents how opposites can be complementary, which perfectly expresses my point.

He didn't played the game. He jumped on a bandwagon, because he smelled profit in surfing the ED bash wave. As far as all of his other videos speak, he never got involved with ED before EDO release. I could prolly go on all evening hand picking out the indicators, that you get to understand with coming of particular age, by just observing him, and reviewing all his videos. They guy is simply not right. And he is simply not honest in what he does. I trust my instincts in that regard very well.
