The point is that if the bad press reaches someone like him, and it's enough for him to make a video about, it's bad. A lot of his viewers have probably never even heard of Elite Dangerous.

Logged into Odyssey everyday since launch, playing fine, having fun.
Wasn't he the guy who praised CP2077 to the clouds, running the hype train into the ground, and then had to back paddle like crazy?

It isn't a bandwagon. People are genuinely upset over the state Odyssey was released in.
Lol, indeed they are. Someone just seriously told me he wasn't to be taken seriously because he was originally hyped for Cyberpunk, but then gave it a negative review when it turned out Cyberpunk had issues.
In the outside world, that's called "journalistic integrity". But here, that's disloyalty and must be quashed.
He liked what he saw in the demo, then ripped the game for being nothing like the demo. Then ripped CDPR for their dishonesty.
That's good credibility.
As far as I know, this is basically how Youtubers like Yong Yea operate - they cover whatever people are currently mad about, because outrage generates views. And there's always outrage somewhere in the gaming industry.

The outrage is well earned. The industry has become extremely anti-consumer.
He was on the hype train, and every video he made was OMG it's so good, then reality kicked in, zero credibility as far as I'm concerned.
A lot of people bought CP2077 because of him, and he had to backpaddle like crazy to patch his rep. That's why I make up my own opinion and don't need someone like him, oh and I didn't refund CP2077 either.
Oh I agree with that, FDEV made this bed and now they can lay in it!

But, but how can you possibly know what to think without an influencer telling you?
What does the reach matter? Anyone who cares about Elite already is aware of what is going on. Anyone who does not care about Elite, what relevance does their opinion have anyway? If anything it exposes people to the information that Elite exists and is still developed. So, really, if anything the exposure is positive.
Because the demo they gave him was very good, and was not indicative of what they were releasing. He didn't know that. He just said the demo was good.
They purposely put it out there to generate good press for the game. He was deceived as much as anyone.
He's extremely on top of the anti-consumer practices by these companies, and admits when he makes a mistake. He has even pulled videos down for containing errors.
Disliking a videos game on youtube does exactly the same thingIf you don't like a video, don't push dislike. Pressing dislike is counted as an interaction and actually helps the video.
This game went from niche to mainstream is a single post.

the games fine there's some bugs but ive not experienced anything even remotely like what every one is complaining about i just experienced already completed missions failing because the mission timer ran out some how and every mission being for colonia and thats kind of it
i suspect this is happening

mission 1 time: breaks some how
player: OMG I'M SO SICK OF THIS DLC THIS IS UNPLAYABLE EVERY SINGLE TIME THIS PARTICULAR MISSION BREAKS!
