You can add some interesting achievements to the game.

Achievement: Kissing the Earth
The way to get it: 200 Hit the ground

Achievement: a spaceship collector
The way to get it: a total of 10 different ships.

EDSM already has badges for achievements already. It doesn't have your first one, but it has the 2nd one already:

EDSM is not in the game.

The game needs gamification.

I don't have a console version (yet), but I think they probably have some of this that the PC version lacks.

You mean like the steam-"awards" for every game like "Your first canopy breach"-Award and such?
I don´t know ... but I guess some would like it, others would see themselves forced into another grind.
