You can now link your PSN account to EDSM.net to log your journeys!

Help please

This is pretty big folks, massive shout out to both EDSM and Frontier who seem to have put the console authentication in place. Hopefully this will allow us to use more third party apps in the future. [up]

https://www.edsm.net

Create an account and select the "console updater" in the profile. You will have to authenticate with your PSN account. You need to make sure the EDSM account is a console one, if its asking for API key it's been set up as a PC account.

When registering a new account if you don't already have a console account you may be prompted to select PS account and carry out the authentication at that stage. My account was already created.

[edit] Never mind. I was obviously too tired last night. I sussed it out now :)

So, I created an account. Selected PS and was directed to the frontier Auth page. logged in and it appeared to work ok. It was late so I went to bed at that stage.
This morning, go to the EDSM page, click to login via Frontier auth and it allows me to do that. but once logged in it takes me back to the EDSM page but with the API setting and no console updater :(
How do I change this please guys?

Thanks!

The direct link from your current ship build to coriolis is awesome. Personally prefer http://edshipyard.net (which is currently more up to date), but I think some community politics are going on around Harry Potters take over of that website, so that it won't get included to edsm...

Just did a little test trip to California nebula and back. Systems I stayed in for less than a minute weren't tracked, which is no surprise I guess, just something to be aware of.

Does the webpage do an autorefresh every 60 seconds, which is the trigger for querying the cAPI? If so, what if you manually refresh the page? This might be a reason for console players to "hit F5" every second, LOL.

I wish Frontier exposed our previously-explored systems via this API, as the most exciting of my journeys are probably behind me now. They must have this data, since I can filter it via the Galaxy Map. Thankfully I've left a breadcrumb trail of bookmarks throughout the galaxy highlighting my adventures over the last 1.5 years.

Well I've followed the instructions but can't see the console updater anywhere. We need a YouTube video to show us how to set this up

Ok, somehow this is NOT working for me. I followed the instructions .. i do hit the eddn updater and it seems to work:

System LHS 200
Station Tsunenaga Port

both with checkmarks.

But looking at my profile - no data at all. Any Idea?

The next tweak is to have it permanently on or off... and not as a back ground task the browser runs only but a web server task...
Having to turn it on every day will stop the use of it but I understand that its to keep load to only active players...

So am I understanding this correctly ?

It just updates and logs your journeys and nothing else ?

We have to submit our frontier account details for it to work, but how secure from hackers will those details be ? Would it be possible for someone to steal account's or reset huge quantities account saves ?

Don't get me wrong but I am genuinely excited about this. It's a major milestone for us console user's

The Frontier authentication key only allows EDSM to read details from your account. Other tools (when they come along) will need separate authentication keys. EDSM can read but not update your information.

Only use if you trust EDSM. I use it all the time, as well as EDMC and EDDI, all of which are authorised to read from my account.

I'm going to try getting a curl script to do this so when I start playing Elite Dangerous my home automation system can detect this and then open up the page and keep it open, then close it when I am done playing.

You'd have to contact the author or create a new console account I think.

Help me to understand better how it works .. does is mean that :

1) I switch on my console-PS4 and run ED as usual ...
2) and in the same time I use my McBook Pro, open EDSM webpage, login and run updater

..... play ....

after I'm done I will logout from EDSM and close web page, then switch off computer and switch off PS4

Am I correct ? Thank you for clarification in advance ...

Yes, every 60 seconds the EDSM console updater will update current ship, location, credits and the like.

That's it. Just remember it updates every 60 seconds so don't be too quick when scooping stars ;-)

Great info -- thx to all [up]
60s period is not crucial for me (imho) .. if I leave system before 60s limit, it means system is not important for me - thus there is no need to record it ... next one (or next next one) will be recorded - it's good for my exploration needs ...
