You can now pick your target in the system map !

Well I say :D
I am out trying the diamondback and went in to the system map and clicked on one of the planets to check it out and I got the targeting symbol :)

and in the ships forum they are not liking the DB, I can see their point if they wanted it for exploration , but I think it is cute :)
I have as all good explorers will have : detailed scanner, advanced scanner and fuel scoop. 1 slot left for fuel transfer rig, shields or 1 AFMU

Whilst I realise that traders want to increase their already ludicrous 5 round trips per hour to ever more unrealistic levels, how does this actually improve exploring?

Allitnil, whether you like this and other things,or not, 1.3 isn't for us explorers :( maybe 1.4 ? :)

Better lookin' than the ASP, Imo!

yes, I think it looks like a locust :D

But remember, it is a combat/explorer and I have set it up as an explorer ! I am basically wasting half of its capabilities.
I am running minimum on nearly everything and getting close to 30LY only. Set it up as a combat explorer and I will be at around 23-25 LY

Nice looking, but useless. Not as useless as a courier, but as at one time it looked like exploration would get 2 ships, this update is a considerable disappointment.
Woot, selection of targets from the system menu. If that took more than 30 mins to code, I would be disappointed in the original coders work.

Yeah, it was immediately obvious from the change log that explorers weren't even considered with 1.3, but this is the exploration forum so if people are going to advertise new features I think it's reasonable for those features to be of use (or even a hazard) to exploration.

my thread is

At the risk of repeating myself then, please explain why this feature improves exploring.

Because when you are trying to only scan 3 out of 9 planets in deep space, quite often the only way to pick the correct 2nd and 3rd planets to go to and scan involves a bit of luck(or flying in the 3rd axis to see the orbits from above) if say all of them are moonless.

I figure after scanning an 80+ body system, and you go into the System Map to discover that you missed ONE MOON, then you can just select it and have it targetted rather than trying to scroll through the 80+ items (20 or so of which are unidentified because FD still makes scanning asteroids useless).

nice little featur, sometimes i miss planets when scanning a big system - be glad to be able to start using it.

Not the right thread but anyway's Diamond Back is not what I was hoping, I was hoping for a hardcore little 50ly jumper or something but it seems I will be stuck with the ASP until I can get a Anaconda....

It's a GREAT feature!!

I'm not bad in being able to work which are which in the Nav Panel, but once you move off it gets a lot more tricky. I tend to fly out so I can see the orbit lines and use the System Map to work out which is which. This will save all of that :)

Giving asteroid belts a different symbol in the nav screen would have helped.

This ... not so much :(

I don't understand why you say this ? :)
Now you will never target a belt by mistake !!! The icon would have been nice, but we have one solution for now.
(I know, in UI you get distances too)
