You think it is beta? Then behave like it is beta!

It's a Beta in all but name - everyone needs to treat it as beta and log issues and test their claimed fixes.
The ONLY issue I have is FDev lying to us by claiming it's a 'full release' - that is lie, they know it and we know.

Even if the full release happened today ( last working day before their year end ) - most of the biggest complaints have not been fixed yet - they have fixed over 300 bugs - but the back lash would be exactly the same.
The game is still too dark, most people are still getting really bad frame rates on planets, some planets look worse than Horizons, the new planet tech is generated cookie-cutter patterns that removes the random procedural uniqueness that made Horizons planets special. The UI is still worse than Horizons.
We are not really close to what most people would consider a 'full release' product yet. Maybe by the end of next month we'll be there, but I think that's wishful thinking on my part.

There is a cash shop, the thing has a full price, this "paid beta" is the reason why we here in this mess in the first place. Its NOT a beta, stop it.

Either:
a) Tell me my dinner is going to take longer than expected.
b) Don't try selling me a steak dinner. Under the circumstances I would prefer hot dogs.

a) Everyone was telling you that dinner was going to take longer than expected.
b) You walked into a pancake house and ordered steak. Sure you got potato salad instead of mashed potatoes and you forgot to request "well-done" and your preferred wine wasn't available, but they delivered a delicious meal which you threw in the floor and they are cooking you a new, well-done steak and are getting you your special steak sauce.

a) Frontier published a release date and sold the product. The product was released on that date.

b) I paid for the advertised product directly from the company selling it. There was no misunderstanding what I paid for.

As a customer I would have been more happy with an additionally delayed release. Or a staggered release where fully completed items are given at staged intervals. If the baked potatoes come 10 minutes after the steak that's weird but better than giving me undercooked potatoes.

Quit complaining, submit issues and give the devs time to do their job.
If it is too much, just play Horizons and wait.
Everything will work out.
Not sure what is worse.... yours or FD attitude. But I won’t hold my breath that exact same arrogant people like you decided at Frontier that it was OK to bring out that not even half baked dlc and charge a full price of an AAA game

It's not a beta. That's the whole reason people are upset.

If it wasn't ready, it shouldn't be in our hands yet. If they wanted to let us play a 'beta', they should have called it such. Assuming it's beta is saying that this is an okay practice. It is absolutely not.

Not ok with this release, nor arrogant by intention.
But I'm also not ok with people only complaining in forums, but not returning the game or trying to help by submitting tickets.

If you are not one of those, you are not meant.
If you think I'm arrogant. I can live with that.

I totally agree.
And I want it rather fixed then gone.

What? We had paid full-price for playing game not "Testing"!!!

Testing is a paid job... Can't you understand "Testing" is a job of QA team in develpment company???

I'm actually entertaining the idea of treating Odyssey like a beta, hence my thread below:

Of course if I have to PAY to test this beta, you bet your bippy I'll be even more expressive with my opinions regarding Odyssey than I already am, but with the ultimate goal of giving Frontier feedback they'll listen to in order to improve the game.

The only reason I'm considering this is because I do feel that Frontier (and David Braben personally) is serious in their efforts to right the current wrongs in Odyssey.

We are all in agreement on that, But when is it time to call out a failing relationship? That's not an easy question to answer.
I would say, the SC community is way too lax and let RSI get away with murder. Here - not so much, but we don't want to get there either.

Being (a small) part of the SC community, I don't think that's true. Everybody who plays SC knows it is an alpha, and treats it as such - bugs are to be expected, but a regular release schedule and a roadmap mean people know what to expect!

I share Obsidian Ant's opinion, that the release happened to push the balance sheet. By having the game refunded, that headstart is maybe nullified.
Hopefully they learned their lesson.

That lesson being don't even attempt the impossibly difficult task of being a major game developer, especially with random persons way outside the loop actively and loudly campaigning against your every single effort? No, I think if anyone was going to put up with that kind of tired garbage we'd all still be playing pong.. happily, maybe.

I don't know, last time I checked my game library, there were a lot of games from small and independent developers in there, very good ones at that I have to say.

So you don't have to be big to do good games, it seems.

Edit: And victimizing the oh so poor companies does not do any good either ;)

And small, independent game developers are free from being blasted by a tiny, extremely loud percentage of people who play their games apparently for reasons unknown? No.

Also, I'm not painting victims - the wealth of development companies is why we have games like this to play, and I'm pointing out just what I said I was pointing out - the extremely boring garbage that typically comes out of game critics, these days called "game critics" with quotes, anytime they believe they can sell their words by crafting them to inflame or escalate something that already has people very excited.

This obnoxiously annoying behavior is not rocket science, but the creation of some of these entertainments we all get to enjoy actually in fact is, and the fact that anyone wants to attempt it for profit obviously is a very good thing, and pretty unique actually, but once again what do I know.

There is a element small developers are better in than bigger ones: it's called "communication".

If you communicate with your customers and are honest and upfront, that goes a long way.
