Your fleet?

I've been going through my ships, trying to figure out what upgrades they need (and whether to flog them) and I started to wonder whether or not this is "normal" for an ED player.

My fleet of ships currently consists of the following (in no particular order):-

2 x Sidewinder (my first ship and the one I went to Sag A in)
3 x Hauler (taxis)
2 x Eagle (a racer and the one I first went to Hutton in)
1 x Imperial Eagle (data delivery ship)
2 x DBS (a scavenger ship and a ground attack ship)
1 x Viper 3 (my first RES-hunting ship)
1 x Viper 4 (the ship that earned me my Cutter)
1 x Cobra 3 (Just cos...)
2 x Imperial Courier (rare trading and something sneaky)
1 x Asp Scout (somebody had to buy one)
2 x DBX (bubble-hopper and experimental explorer)
1 x Keelback (small tough trader)
1 x Python (armed trade-ship)
1 x Imperial Clipper (looked nice in the brochure)
5 x Asp Explorer (3 mission-miners, an explorer and my daily-driver)
1 x T9 heavy (big mining ship)
1 x Vulture (fer killin' stuff)
1 x FGS (fer killin' stuff that shoots back a lot)
1 x FdL (fer killin' stuff that tries to run away)
1 x Fed Corvette (WIP fer killin' every-'kin'-thing)
1 x Anaconda (WIP explorer)
1 x Imperial Cutter (space truck)
1 x Orca (cos I wanted to try passenger missions and the Dolphin looks like a flying bus)
1 x Beluga (cos I obviously didn't realise I don't like passenger missions after flying the Orca)

I think that's everything.

Is that normal or have I lost the plot? [where is it]

Geeze. And I thought I was bad.

1x Fed 'Vette [Goliad] - Main ship
1x Anaconda [New Horizons] - currently set up for multi-crew general purpose stuff. I want to make an explorer out of it.
1x FDL [Predator] - currently set up for multi-crew. With the Vette in my fleet, and since I don't do PvP outside of PMF shenanigans, I have no real purpose for this ship as of now.
1x Vulture [Negative Ghost Rider] - Fixed weapons practice. PvP Fleet shenanigans.
1x Python [Endless Endeavor] - For working the BGS in systems with out a star-port (outpost mission runner).
1x Asp [Han Shot First] - Smuggler, main taxi, skimmer killer.
3x Cobra Mk III [East Bound & Down, N/A, N/A] - One was my ship [EB&D] for quite a long long while. Ran missions, did BH, CZ, rare-loops, & exploration with it. Can't sell it. The other two were impromptu purchases and builds. One for skimmer killing, the other, probably for skimmer killing.
1x Imperial Courier [N/A] - Just because
1x Imperial Eagle [N/A] - Just because
1x Adder [Bessie] - Planet Express Ship

2x Eagle [N/A, N/A] - One in my home system for fixed weapons practice & fleet PvP shenanigans, the other in LHS 3447 for playing with newbies.
2x Sidewinder [Learning Curve, First Blood] - First ship given in elite, never destroyed. Abandoned somewhere along a rare-goods route. First Blood was an impromptu build for fleet pvp shenanigans. Scored my first actual PvP kill with it, so I kept it.

I started looking through all my ships/modules/mats etc for a EOY 'Stocktake'. No ships gone yet (but my list isnt as extensive as yours :p), but a good reduction on other storage concerns none the less.

I feel entirely inadequate... :D

1 x Sidewinder
1 x Viper Mk III
1 x Viper Mk IV
1 x Cobra Mk III
3 x Imperial Couriers
2 x Vultures
1 x Asp Explorer
2 x FDL
1 x Python

To be fair, I do use 11 of the 13 frequently, and you can probably tell I'm a fan of smaller ships... :)

Six in all:
1) FAS; my main ship. I just can't stay out of it.
2) AspX 2X; a. Miner b. explorer.
3) Python; They have their uses.
4) Vulture; HRES + Vulture = Lost time experience.
5) FdL; Because FdL.

1) Python. Sold my FDL and AspX to A rate it. Most expensive ship I've owned by far, and most engineered. The bulk of my money is tied up in it.
2) DBX. 50LY jump range fully armed. Gets me anywhere in the bubble in no time. Love this ship.
3) Dolphin. Jumps 30LY. Haven't used it much recently.
4) Imperial Eagle. A few mods. Jumps 21LY. I had my Thargoid encounter at the barnacles in this ship.

And that's it. I think I have about 230 mil total assets so this is the biggest fleet I can afford if I want a Python on my roster, which I really do. When I've earned some more cash I think my next purchase will be a Federal Assault Ship. I only need one more Federal rank to get it.

The first step on the road to recovery is admitting that you have a problem :)

I build them then I sell them. I only keep about 5 at a time, and I try to keep them at the same station. It's pointless to be across the bubble if your ships are on the other side. You start with the House of Pain...Jump around... jump around...

1 of every ship in game and then:

Second Anaconda (one exploration one multicrew combat)
Second Cutter (one trading, one mining)
Second Courier (one racing, one combat)
2nd and 3rd Cobra III (all mixed types)

Everything upgraded apart from the multicrew conda I'm building. Only 3-4 ships properly engineered in my fleet, the odd FSD mod here or there but nothing really maxed out.

1. Corvette (Xenophobic) - every day main ship, multi-role spec'ed for combat, missions, and cargo
2. FDL (Side Piece) - the ship that I credit most of my 1billion+ liquidity, and my true love, but built strictly for combat, no cargo. Since I am married now to that Corvette, the FDL is my side piece for when I am feeling a bit froggy and want to cheat on that big butt beauty
3. FGS (El Delicto) - legal latin for justice without due process, and it sounds like a character from the Three Amigos movie, so, bonus... all combat, stupid powerful, more DPS than my Corvette, and simply to just destroy all. 600 shields and 2300 integrity = 30 minutes of being fired upon according to Coriolis 2.0 to send me to Commander Davie Jone's locker
4. FAS (Hit'nRun) - when I just feel like destroying ships by ramming them... fast and furious - Paul Walker would be proud; low cargo capacity for missions or smuggling
5. Imperial Courier (Scavenger) - fun to chase around wanted ships and force them into a dog fight - mostly on their 6
6. Python (Miner 49er) - the name pretty much tells the tale
7. Asp Explorer (Space Camper) - for what it does best, Explore with a 45ly jump range, and that's weighed down quite a bit
8. Imperial Eagle (High Strung) - fast, loud, and burns hot. 535 top speed with 781 integrity. Good rolls on that one. Fixed Weapons for improving fighting tactics

About to build at Founder's World:
1. Clipper - because everyone should own a Clipper, even though I don't know exactly what I am going to use it for in game, maybe passenger missions, since I cannot bear the thought of flying any of the passenger buses around the galaxy. However, its got to be one of the best looking ships in the game.
2. Python #2 - multi-role like my Vette, but can use a medium size landing zone. Plan to use it for multi-role like my Vette: combat, missions, trading and smuggling (since the latter cannot be done efficiently with the Vette.
* Purchasing and building them out for Engineer upgrades now, before Frontier reintroduces the cargo requirement for Engineer upgrades

All ships owned, and will be bought and owned have or will have Level 4 and 5 engineering upgrades, core, utility, optional and weapon modules (traditionally used for combat, FSD range, and scanning)

1 I Clipper What the brochure guy sed
3 Pythons Miner, Gunship, Missions
1 Beluga Passengers DOH
1 I Cutter Trader
2 Corvette The second is awaiting upgrades for dem dirty aliens. :) No Not Switzerland. LOL

Now I need to get the credits for a rebuy on the I Eagle.

Ok here goes....

Sidewinder - hull tanking silent runner
Eagle - work in progress
Courier - modded for skirmishing (very light build)
Vulture - rez hunter (differing builds, dual APA's, heal beams, frags etc)
Python - mission runner
Asp X - taxi , explorer and materials gathering
Anaconda - gathers dust but was originally a mission runner rez farmer
Cutter - cause shields are awsome

Im working on funding for the vette and have some other minor ship buildsbi cant think of just now.

I own them all except the Vette and the Cutter (and Cobra IV)
These are the relevant ones:
-I kept my starter Sidewinder for posterity.
-I use my Hauler as a taxi.
-My Viper IV, I put 8 tons of generally illegal goods in the hold and scout black markets. And railgun practice.
-My Cobra was my original smuggler back when it's speed was second best.
-I mined what I had to mine in my T6.
-The Vulture is still my favorite ship.
-The Assault Ship is good at killing things. Frankly, better than the Gunship.
-My Python is jack of all trades and good enough at them.
-The Gunship is much more satisfying to kill things with than the Assault Ship.
-Smuggling in a T9 gets me the endorphins I'm looking for.
-My Conda replaced my Asp for being better at all the things the Asp would have made this list for.

All right so going in order of acquisition,
1)Cobra Mk III (Shelby, ID# PK-01), my in bubble jack of all trades, armed and armoured
2)Diamondback Explorer (High Desert, ID# PK-02), kitted for detailed longrange orbital and planetary exploration, lightly armed
3)Imperial Courier (Farscape II, ID# PK-03), bounty-hunting, recon, short range explorer setup, speed, survivability, enough firepower to be nasty
The next 3 are stationed in Colonia
4)Cobra MK III (Eastwood, PK-04)
See 1) general purpose ship for doin stuff
5)Type-6 (Kodiac, PK-05), it's a space truck
6)Viper MK IV (Siren, PK-06), setup similar to the I-Courier but not as fast or maneuverable
That's my fleet as of this moment, small but, nice.

Yeah about that....

I have just over 90 ships (i never sell them). About 20 are from the old Sidey bookmark malarky and my main pride of place are 4 Pythons (2 PvP, 1 smuggler, 1 explorer)
