Your game is still fundamentally broken.

Hey i have a idea, lets give the fastest ship in the game the biggest shield possible. And then lets make Reboot instantly replenish 50% shields because that makes so much sense, that cant possibly be abused in any way right? - Some FD Employee Who Sucks at Playing Elite #gamedesign101 #5/7

To gain rep with a pirate faction you must do piracy. Once you obtaint friendly status with said faction you are still interdicted and shot at by said pirate faction. - Logic

I think its a good feature to have that if you ever have cargo at all you will be interdicted 80% of the time no matter what. Such an amazing feature, even if the Commodities only add up to 5k credits. Its also nice they dont even need to scan, they just know whats in the hold. - Brilliant Game Design

Being hounded by Bounty hunters is also amazing, even when they also dont need to use a K-Warrant scanners. Even when im in a system im not wanted in, they KNOW what ive done.... somehow, even though its impossible to do a K-Scan in SC. They just know that my 10k credit bounty is completely worth trying to kill me over when im in a Conda and the NPC hunter is risking his Python or FAS over it. - Logic

Hey, lets buff the crap out of PAs to defeat people with huge shields and maxed resistances. That will fix everything right? Its so simple why didnt we think of it sooner. I dont see this back firing in any way. - Another Genius at FD Who Doesnt Even Play the Game

Lets make the most social anti social game possible by delaying ingame squads and chat functions only to release at a later date in a broken shell of itself. And when people actually wing up they PROFIT LESS FOR COMBAT, brilliant right? They also cant share mission rewards or accept a mission as a wing, or even choose how proceeds are split. And actually make the game perform WORSE when you do wing up. Lets leave it like that for 1.5 years or more. - An Investor

I dont understand why people use EDDB, we put everything the player needs ingame? - Blissfully Ignorant and Detached Developer

Lets bring in crafting and force the use of a commodity WHICH CAN BE TRADED between players, but explicitly state "We do not want a player driven economy for reasons we dont understand" even though that is exactly what you just did. You use the same logic for why we cant store commodities. Do the people that work at FD only play Roller Coaster games (or even games in general) because the stuff everyone is asking for is nothing new in the world of gaming and MMOs.

I guess a ship got away from you?

I've just got to say, I feel like people ignore everything good about elite. No one ever says "good job" and considering the amount of effort FD and us players put into this game, I just have to say thank you. :)

What?!

'Fanboys all over this forum who praise ED about everything even the really bad aspects, which they refer to as 'specific design choices' or some such rot.

The Game is not fundermentaly Broken,Its that there are aspects of it that you do not like,I think the Idea of Balance is big pile steaming excrement Forced on us Because Some COD Jockies want to go Pew,Pew But I don't think the Game is fundermentaly broken,Just Because the Game does not fill 100% of what "I" does not mean it's fundermentaly broken

The world is full of fan boys or should I say people who do not share YOUR opinion

You are free to have any opinion you wish and I am free to think you are an appalling Human being to have that opinion

If you are waiting for the Game to be fixed just right for you,Then you will be waiting a very long time and so will i

Mostly agree with the OP. Don't know about the shield reboot or PA boost - but isn't that going to get a beta?

The point about pirate factions rep (for me) is a bug that really should've been fixed by now. The random interdiction stuff doesn't make sense, but I suppose is required as otherwise there's no good mechanism for being attacked by pirates - perhaps the solution is to allow scanning in SC (cargo and KWS) and also to speed it up a bit (I don't get why it's so slow as it is).

Not really sure what the point about crafting commodities is - it's always been possible to trade commodities between players. Otherwise yeah, the whole crafting thing still feels like a work in progress even after 5 months and many tweaks...

Saying all that though, I wouldn't say the game was fundamentally broken - there are a few things which could (and should) be fixed up - but it's just tweaks to existing mechanisms.

Well, let's start out by making the game be Client/Server rather than P2P...oh wait...that ship sailed before they got rid of offline mode....well how about fixing...oh wait..P2P can't support...well how about....darn P2P doesn't allow that either...

Hmmm...well maybe a real economy...oh wait...that is something that is based on the server design...which was set in stone before the Client/Server question was answered.....

I dunno....maybe shutting down the whole game and a complete 5 year redesign to make it into a 'Star Citizen-esque' MMO?

First, ED is a hybrid Client/Server & P2P game. A "real economy" is certainly possible, whatever it is you mean by that though. You neglect to mention any other of your wishes that apparently "P2P can't support" so it's not possible to comment further.

As to Star Citizen: it won't support more than 24 players at anything higher than 15FPS until 3.0 in mid-2017, and multiple star systems until 4.0 in 2018; it's not (yet) an MMO and certainly can barely be called a game currently - no trading, mining, exploration, bounty hunting, piracy, faction warfare, economy, etc, etc. If you like clothes shopping and janky FPS mechanics, I suppose it could be fun...

Everything the OP says rings true, but this seems to be the most relevant because of what it says about the game:

The weapons were all reasonably well balanced. Then along came the engineers and all weapon balance went out the window so FD decide to buff one of the most powerful weapons because it wasn't popular any more. A class 4 PA with an L5 overcharged mod will be almost twice as damaging as before and much more effective if you're up against heavily engineered ships. Surely someone has noticed this is going to be a bad idea? Within a week you're going to see people complaining about how their heavily armoured anacondas were destroyed in seconds by a NPC FdL.

This game is becoming like calvinball. It seems as though we've now all dropped into a never ending cycle of buffing and nerfing which seems to be going faster and faster. It used to be that every 6 months or so a ship or a weapon would get a nerf or a buff. Now it feels like it's happening with every point release. It feels as though FD don't seem to be able to figure out the consequences for any of their changes. Next up it's going to be the turn of plasma accelerators to be buffed until someone figures out that it can be modded enough to make it possible to kill smaller ships with one shot and post a video on youtube about it. Then PAs will get nerfed and something else will get buffed. The engineers seem to have just thrown the whole game into a self destructive arms race.

Rep. I say it again, I do not believe FD has the abilities to design this game. I feel that they have bitten off more than they can chew.

Just a reminder that the weapons re-balancing will be tested in a beta for feedback

Hyperbole? I only wish...

Maybe hyperbole is the wrong word. The problem is, if you can't make a point without being insulting it's basically worthless. I could just ignore it and support the few points I kind of agree with. But if your goal is to get through to FDEV, by calling them incompetent idiots (not your words, but the message), you aren't doing yourself a favour.

Could be he just wants to vent some spleen.

Are you even on the same forums as us?

This is the most carping and unappreciative player base of any game I have played.
I've seen rolls of toliet paper more intelligent then these people. A dead naked mole rat would be able to see the literal hundreds of threads complaining better then these smeg heads.

SC will be p2p as well

Pirates fight with each other all the time. Thats why they're called pirates.

Basically, one big rant with no real unique or convincing criticism/arguments.

"Make Elite easier for pirates"... No

Please m'harty enlighten me? (not sarcasm). I thought pirates squandered and pillaged their way through everyone and everything, even if it was another pirate of the same creed.

Ahaarrrrrr.... (adjusts ill-fitting pirate hat).. "I just want to rob those rich snobs of all their finery. I stay out of fights unless I absolutely have to... and never fight another pirate who might be stronger than me! Why risk my skin for no reward? I'm not dumb... Yaarrrr!"
