There he is. Bruce is just sitting there. After 48 hours he finally started to eat, and boy he had an appetite: 4 crickets, the hog. He even lunged at the tongs I was using to feed him

Oh most definitely. I believe it takes them a year to grow, so hopefully, a year from now, I'll remember to snap a pic of him
Any Update regarding your Frog?☺️

I've also gotten two Pets a While ago because their previous Owner developed a Allergie. Yes, I know. The Cage should be bigger. I'll buy one when I finally have enough Money. Currently growing Lemon-scented gum and Australian silver oak for them

Needed to resize the Pictures so I could upload them to the Forum

Yes sir, I do. I unfortunately can't upload videos or gifs of him eating, so here's an image:
Screenshot_20230323-072317-900.png

He is now about 3-4 inches (which is 7.62-10.16 cm)

Feed him 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday). He does absolutely nothing except eat. He's far less active than he was as a baby.
I believe he doesn't have much longer to grow, as males grow to about this size and I have tons of reasons to believe he's male (ok, only 1 reason and it's his beard)

Right now I'm desperately trying to figure out how to maintain and breed feeder crickets so that I don't have to keep going back to the store, but they keep dying on me😅

Never bred any Life Food myself but I've heard Tubifex Worms are pretty easy to breed, so if he also eats those, you could try to breed them in a small Aquarium. I think though you should vary his Diet a bit (not a Frog Expert though because I've never owned one)

Yeah. I know crickets are the main course and I should give him treats every so often, but he's weird.
Like, I have freeze dried mealworms, thinking "he's gonna enjoy these"...

There are days he eats 8 of them (they're tiny). Then there are days he eats 1, and the little jerk spits them out and refuses any more; then when I stick the tongs to take it out, he attacks the tongs🤣

But with live food, he always takes it. The problem is that the nearby pet stores lose their supply quickly, (and PetSmart is kinda meh about it. Most of the time the employees don't care and give me 100 crickets with 50 being dead). So yesterday, because the pet store barely had enough crickets to feed their reptiles, I got a couple of live mealworms and he's chomping them up.
Sometimes when he eats, he doesn't completely engulf his food, so it's sticking out of his mouth😂

No seriously 🤣. Males have black markings that look like a beard while females kinda lose it over time

Well, I have 2 empty tanks...

1 is a 10 gallon terrarium tank that I used to keep crickets in, but they were far too messy. The other is a 20 gallon aquarium tank that somebody just gave us.

So, I don't want fish, as the 20 gallon would be too heavy for the table I have (200 lbs is way too much).

What do y'all suggest I get for either tank? And remember that I already have a 20 gallon with a pacman frog, so I'd like to try something else in the other 2

My Multi-Crew...

crew.jpg

Brutus the very gentle German Shepherd
Chewy (as in 'Chew Toy' for Brutus) the Chihuahua
Chippers the excitable guard dog mix

All were rescue dogs.

Brutus at 10 months 90% full grown was turned in to the pound when the family moved from the country to the city. He is the poster perfect version of a pure breed German Shepherd who failed the Police Academy twice because he wouldn't bite anyone. He is very friendly, fears nothing and loves playing with people and other dogs. He loves kids at Halloween and does just fine running around the 1.6 acres of my residence. Being very smart I'm not sure that I am worthy of owning him.

Chewy was turned into the pound when an older lady went to a retirement home. Also very mild and gentle bonded with me in about 2 minutes. I was picking him up for my girlfriend who found him. The girlfriend didn't work out. Chewy did.

Chippers was abandoned in a local park for a week before our online NextDoor social group found him and I took him in. He is the guard dog with a lot of energy that barks at everything, gets into everything and ALWAYS wants to be near me. It used to be quiet here then Chewy came along and gets the other dogs barking.

Per abandonment issues all like to be near me and Chewy and Chippers won't eat or drink unless I'm in the room. Chippers is funny running around with a dog treat waiting for me to sit down to play Elite Dangerous then he will eat it. Chewy and Chippers sleep on the bed while Brutus sleeps halfway between the bedroom and the front door always on guard duty. I'm wasting my money on a 24/7 monitored security system.

They are doing great while Brutus at 10 years old is starting to have aging issues with degenerative hind legs common to the species. Someday they will all go to Dog Heaven but I won't cry knowing that I provided a wonderful life for them on Earth. They give me as much as I give them. Then another rescue dog is out there waiting for a home and love if I don't go first! Ah, but my younger Sister is backup!

Regards

🤔 Don't really know how big a 20 Gallon Tank is but one Animal I'd love to keep myself someday is the Short tailed Opossum. The smaller Tank might be nice for some Stick Bugs or Vampire Crabs

🤔 Can you provide the Measurements of the Tank? Would be interesting to know if it would even work for the Animals I've suggested

Ok, here. This is in inches, by the way...

10 gallon:
Length 20
Width 10
Height 12

20 gallon:
Length 24
Width 12
Height 17
Ok, my Suggestion with the Short tailed Opossum sadly wouldn't work with that Tank😕

The 10 Gallon Tank seems to be suitable for up to 6 Vampire Crabs.

The 20 Gallon Tank seems to be slightly too small for Stick Bugs but of course it also depends on the Species so maybe some Species could be kept inside of it.

Another Animal I'd love to keep myself is a Colony of Messor barbarus. You would of course need to connect a Formicarium to the Tank though

😕 If it would be higher, I would recommend Green Anole for the 20 Gallon Tank

Dekay's Brownsnake would work. Don't know though how easy and expensive it would be to regularly get the Worms and Snails they eat. Maybe you could get Food for them in a Shop that sells Fishing Supplys. Otherwise you could breed Tubifex for it but then you would need a additional Tank of course. A 10 Gallon Tank seems to be big enough for one of them and according to the Site where I've just looked it up, you can even keep up to 3 of them in 20 Gallons

Couldn't find Information how much Space a Snake from the Genus Eirenis would need. They eat Insects

Don't know if the 20 Gallon would be enough for a Common Rain Frog because it is recommended to keep them in 18 x 18 x 12. Maybe your 24 x 12 would also work for a single Individual.

For the Desert Rain Frog a 10 Gallon Tank seems to be big enough for 1 or 2 of them

Hope these Suggestions are useful for you

No problem. I actually don't like small mammals as pets, preferring fish, invertebrates, amphibians, and reptiles...

Unfortunately I've never seen them. Of course, I usually don't look for crabs, but still. Maybe one day. That or fiddler crabs
The 20 Gallon Tank seems to be slightly too small for Stick Bugs but of course it also depends on the Species so maybe some Species could be kept inside of it.
Maybe it'd work. I had a 5th grade science teacher who had a large colony in a 20 gallon tank. They were red and black, if I remember correctly

I'd have to look these up. Never heard of them

Maybe. Maybe not. If I could have enough branches and leaves, it may work out. I used to have healthy ankles in smaller tanks many years ago

Snakes, and to an extent, spiders, are definitely out of the question. I am afraid of spiders and my mom fears snakes (although I'd love a small species, like a garter snake)
Don't know if the 20 Gallon would be enough for a Common Rain Frog because it is recommended to keep them in 18 x 18 x 12. Maybe your 24 x 12 would also work for a single Individual.
I'd have to do some research about these

There is a herps show coming up. I may attend it and at least see what's available in the area

Ahh this is such a lovely idea! Everyone has such great pets  I dream of having a menagerie, a little smallholding maybe with goats and all sorts of rescued critters.
But for now I just have 1 doggo and he is everything.

Introducing my best friend in the whole wide world: ✨ Tigger 🧡✨

Crazy story, he was given to me by my boss in Vietnam. I was managing a school out there at the time. One day in the office my boss' PA calls me up and said "Ms L's driver will meet you downstairs to choose your puppy". This was totally unexpected, but of course I went. I mean, when life gives you free puppies, you take em! I was driven to a family home that had one litter of puppies, I checked they were all happy and healthy and they were, so, as if in a dream, I spent a while playing with these puppies and Tigger climbed into my arms and I just fell in love. When I returned to the UK a year later I had to figure out how to bring him back with me! Here he is on the overnight train to Quy Nhon beach for a little holiday from the city:

Tigger likes playing fetch and exploring more than anything, but he also likes strategic board games >

We are insperable and we do everything together. I wish everywhere allowed dogs because then he'd literally come with me everywhere and we'd both be perfectly content. I try to plan holidays that he can come on, so we do lots of camping and hiking. He even kayaks. We both like the wind in our hair and getting a bit crazy.

Tigger is now 6 1/2 and he is a toy poodle but don't let that fool you. He has the heart of a tiger and a spring in his tail.

What a lovely friend. We had a poodle when I was a kid, he is sadly long time gone, but it was my first pet. Such loyal dogs <3

Ahh. They really are amazing dogs. I never would have thought I'd have a toy poodle, I always wanted a really big dog, something very wolfy. But the stars aligned and bought me Tigger. Now I know that poodles are one of the smartest and healthiest breeds. And as you say, so loyal, he spends a lot of his life off leash and he never runs off.
