Your Questions Needed - Join the Elite Tutorial Livestream - Everything You Need to Know About Exploration

Questions:

1. Are there any plans to add more variety to space objects, i.e. huge asteroids, non-spherical shaped stars, comets, in-system gas clouds (not as background), gas tails for gas giants close to stars, plasma jets, accretion disks, auroras, planetary systems with highly-elliptic orbits,..?

2. This is more like an idea, based on planned feature mentioned by David Braben long time ago about visualization of magnetic fields in supercruise.

Any plans to visualize magnetic fields, solar winds, dust or gas clouds, asteroid belts in supercruise, in other words "system weather" (which is becoming more visible (glowing) and dangerous in supercruise and potentially can cause ship overheat or damage)? So we could maneuver between these obstacles in deep space to make system exploration more involving.

Is there actually Thargoid / Alien content in the game excluding Barnaces / Unknown Artifacts, or do you just say there is based on the fact that there are so many starts there's only a 0.0000000001% of being caught out?

Why are the Asteroid Belt Fragments worth nothing surely data regarding them and espically if their pristine metal would make them extremely valuable being in a 0 G environment for harvesting.

If a crater is procedurally generated and it appears on a planet in the exact same location when re-entering a system... Why aren't all POIs just as persistent?
Could they all be made to be just as persistent? Seems strange when an anchored (mostly metal) base dissappears, when switching instance.
Is there a disadvantage to implementing all POIs as non-random persistent POIs?

My question:

What is the best way to chart a course to a particular general direction, without knowing the name of a particular star?

At the moment I line up from source location to the direction I want to go in, then try to rotate 90 degrees, zoom out, and click the left (or right) most star that's selectable, zoom out, repeat... I trust there is a more efficient way?

Couple of questions:
1. What's the current status of the orrery map? Is it still under considerations and if so any idea when we may see it?
2. Are the Engineers able to craft upgrades to scanners? Such as increased range/speed of the Detailed Surface Scanner or a Zoom capable "telescope" to view planets surface details from a distance.

Will there be a way in the future to list out your CMDRs First Discoveries?

What gives with the Permit Only systems far from populated space?? (from https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=122593)

1. Are you satisfied with the negligible/non-existent impact exploration has on the BGS/galaxy at large? Will exploration data ever have a more significant impact on the galaxy? Is exploration ever going to matter in more than just rank and credits?
2. Is there a way for FDev to pull heat map data for systems explored by players galaxy wide and distribute that perhaps as a "peek of the week" type image?
3. Will there ever be long range (>10k Ly, >4 week time limit) exploration missions for players in the Ranger/Pioneer/Elite ranks?

Are their any plans for more galaxy-map features?

Complex route plotting, plotting routes over 1000LY, More filter options, Larger filter radius, Searches for particular types of stars or locations of nearby nebulae etc.

Use the left hand panel and keep selecting systems until you find one in the direction of the target object. Go in the Galaxy map and follow the orange line's direction to find the target object, I often rotate too to make it easier to search. Use co-ordinate system to line yourself up and plot 1000Ly routes.
100% success rate in finding nebula, probably 75% in finding star clusters <- Sometimes I cannot find target object but in that case you just plot 1000Ly in the general direction of the object and try to keep track of the objects every 2-3 jumps.

The statistics panel records two types of detailed scan - level 1 and level 2. What's the difference?

one is a scan without the detailed surface scanner and the other is without, either that or one is honk and the other is physically selecting for that 10 second scan

It would be nice to have the ability to select a star from your cockpit then when you go to the Galaxy Map, that star is marked, pin pointed.
Doesn't have to plot a course or anything like that, just show you in the galaxy map where you would like to travel.

Both Michael and Ed have journeyed to Sagittarius A* what was the most interesting thing you saw on your journey?

Comets..? When are they coming? Will it be in Season 2? We know they've been in the game from day 1 we just haven't been able to see them.

Level 1 scans are using the standard Surface Scanner that comes equipped to all ships and level 2 is using the Detailed Surface Scanner.

I like the idea as I have often spent a long time trying to work out what direction a certain star or group of stars I can see are in by choosing systems in the Galaxy Map. However how would you envisage being able to select the star? Especially for those of us who don't use mouse control and so have no way of selecting anything in the cockpit.

I like exploring inside of the bubble, but deciding which systems have been scanned and which have not is a bit of a pain: any chance of adding a filter for that?

Any chance of being able to see list of systems for which I have sold cartographic data?

Any chance of a combined Advanced Scanner Integrated with a detailed scanner in one internal slot?

Any plans to brings far explorers material to play with on planets.

I am deeply disappointed with tea canisters 33000 ly away. Horizons does not give any real activity except screenshots taking.

We need geographical POI (5-6 per planets) to scan and name. ( big mounts, biggest crater and so on).

Give us GAMEPLAY ! Please with all my respect.
Regards
