Will POIs (points of interest) be made more logical when well outside the bubble as they are some what counter productive at the moment?:
Having just reached possibly a new record distance from Sag A, I can vouch for how frustrating it is to most likely be the first person to land on a planet, to then find within minutes lots of litter everywhere (ie: crashed vehicles/cargo).
Michael has already said that the spawn rate of non natural POIs will be drastically reduced with 2.1
Surely POIs should get uber rare, and not occur at all in ultra remote systems. And most importantly, be in context. ie: A crash explorer with data to return to loved ones rather than a couple of tons of Bertrandite.
Did you not see the peek of the week
Will your tutorial go from zero to hero. As an example, my good lady wife has started playing. She flew to an inhabited system that she did not have the data for. Used an ADS and then flew out to the surface base.
It showed up as unknown on the LH Nav pane, even though it was available in the system map.
rescan after rescan did not resolve it. In the end she swapped ships and the new one had a Basic Scanner instead and this resolved it. I have no idea what the capabilities and limitations of the different scanners are!
TLDR: What scanner is needed to identify a surface base so it shows in LH nav panel?
Potential answer... The ADS doesn't reveal the information about the planet type, it only discovers the planets. You have to do a Surface Scan (pointing at the planet) for it to show the details about it. If there is a Station/Outpost/Base then it will
always show up in the system map and the LH panel even if you cannot see the planet it is on/orbiting.
The Basic Discovery Scanner has a range of 500Ls, the Intermediate is 1000Ls and the Advanced is system wide.
The Basic Surface Scanner, that comes fitted to all ships, gives basic information about a planet and the Detailed Surface Scanner gives far more indepth information (which can be seen in the system map)
As far as I'm aware, though it's been a long time, you need a Discovery Scanner of some sort in order to be able to Surface Scan any planets/stars.
