Yup. You guessed it. We Want Cross play.

Good day, fellow Commanders.

Over the last month or so, me and a few friends have immersed ourselves in the Elite Dangerous Galaxy. it has been a BLAST thus far.

However, we each have friends that have been convinced to get the game but, unfortunately, we are not able to play together due to different platforms and that is a huge bummer.

We hope to see the day where gamers from all platforms can link up and create amazing experiences and build strong connections with others and create a formidable community of players that can take on galaxy together, not alone!

I feel this post may not sway the very talented developers over at Frontier, but I sure hope they see sheer amount of players that want this feature and the BOOM it could bring to this game.

I hope and pray that this will one day be a reality.

I do hope anyone reading this, that has and credible information about this topic, would please share it and provide some insight on if and when we can expect cross play between Xbox, PS4 and PC.

This game is beautiful and fun. I know Cross play between the platforms will only enhance that.

Thank you for your time to read this and to anyone who Has any info to share, would be very much appreciated.

Have a wonderful day and safe travels.

PS - in the meantime, any Xbox players looking for a group to play with and to connect with, feel free to contact me via Xbox. BLG Zeus 13. No matter your experience, we would be glad to have you.

Except it's not Frontier you need to worry about.

Sony and Microsoft control their own respective network ecosystems and what gets access to / from them. Then, there's licensing agreements and possibly even fees that come into play, not even factoring in the changes to the game necessary to "balance" console vs PC hardware (controllers, settings for graphics and such to lock frame rates, etc.) and then being a P2P network topology game also further complicates the issue.

This likely won't happen without an almost entire rewrite of the game.

Sony is fine with it now, so that ball is in Fdevs court to actually implement it.

No, they don't have to do anything to balance controllers or FPS any more than they already do with the hundreds of different specs people are going to have on any given PC rig vs the what, 2 per console?

I appreciate that. That is unfortunate. Wish these companies could see the benefit for us and psoohbky even their products. A boy will just have to dream I suppose lol.
Thank you

Thanks for your response!

I don’t even really mind the advantages they may have. I’d rather have the ability to play with as many players as possible. Love making the connections and creating friendships and experiences. But I can definitely see how there would be an imbalance there. Good point.

I see! Yeah it is a lot easier just to say it lol.
But a boy can dream I suppose. I hope cross play is a focal point for these companies in the future. I feel they could make a lot more money and what not by letting all players connect with each other.

I appreciate your insight!

Edit: whoops double reply. Sorry!

We may not have cross play, but some CMDRs cross dress their personae, so for that we must be thankful.

Ya gotta like purple hair though!

As stated, looks difficult, we have enough issues just getting together in PC due the usual suspects.

hahahaha.

yeah it is easier said than done. I just would love to see more cross platform gaming across the board in general, but this game in specific would be a great game to build a great gaming community with. So much potential!

Thanks for the laugh and response!

I'd love it too. Also, for all of the people who will say PC players have an advantage over consoles, remember this is Elite Dangerous. Fair and balance are more like "guidelines" and not actual rules for gameplay.

Agreed. I’m sure they would have their “adavnatages” although I think it would add to the experience of being able to create awesome team experiences and connect others in a vast open galaxy. Would be neat to see!

thanks for your insight!

I think the main problem for FD with x-play is that then ties all their releases to simultaneity. And from a PC standpoint I'm not sure I want to wait for the console approval process. This is also good for console users since PC gets to be the guinea pig.

Well, all I really want is for Suggestions to be made in the Suggestions forum...

With the announcement made by Drew Wager for a new in-game story in which CMDR'S are able to influence and interact with the story. I would love to have crossplay since it's going to take place on PC only... I would have loved to interact with the story. But since I'm on Xbox that won't be possible.
