Oh no fancy spreadsheets here, pure seat of the pants flying with the plotter, so it must be my pants flying
Maybe you need to change to Brown trousers

In-game plotting here too. The only special thing I do is switch automatic use of WD supercharging off at a key moment.

I did have a look at using White Dwarfs but I didn't see something obvious on the route I'd chosen, and thought I could do without the stress :D

I wasn't born for racing!
Did a first trial run in the regulation DBS, and I was utterly useless!
Hopefully, I will be able to shave one couple of minutes or three by not repeating silly mistakes.
Also, I suppose the colour of the ship should make a difference. I've discovered that the DBS is a cute ship, but in its default livery it is too slow...

Today's update has one entry in each class - but other racers are out on the course, so is this the calm before the storm?

In Unlimited class, CMDR New Model has persisted with the Asp Explorer Try Not To Breathe and improved by more than half the time required to close on CMDR Martinjameson, with a time of 27:31 that is one minute and one second behind - so perhaps it is CMDR Martinjameson that is trying not to breathe as we approach the final day of racing!

Regulation class has seen CMDR FearlessF21 post an improved time in the Thunderburn 2 of 31:24, making good headway on closing the gap to those CMDRs who have times under 30 minutes or who are attempting to push past that barrier. This was the only video entry of the day and the CMDR's jump leaving Wagner Landing was not obscured, so hope remains of improved times for other racers.

As I said last update, I will not post the leaderboard on the final day of the race - so this is it: the targets you have to beat are here and anything can happen in the next 30 hours!

Red worked!
Still a newb, but managed to get under 35' when I switched to red, and that's including a loop of shame, two botched landings, an unnecessary mass lock and me forgetting to engage the FSD at least once!

Nice improvement! Forgetting to engage FSD is such a classic facepalm moment ... sitting there in supercruise thinking "I'm sure something else is supposed to be happening now?" 😂 The thing I've struggled with most on this one is targeting the two installations quickly. I appear at the star and then flounder around in the nav panel for what feels like ages trying to lock my target. It's only just occurred to me, I should have filtered everything else out ... doh!

Yes, finding the targets is an annoyance.
I also hate when the target station is not targeted as I arrive in a system, even though I used a bookmark to set the destination.

And ultimate pet peeve: I hate being assigned to landing pad 16 in a space station! 😫

My go to error is banging my head on the landing pad for maybe a whole minute trying to work out what is going on with the pad then remembering that landing gear device thingy. Done that more than once I shamefully admit. Plus on occasion trying to jump without any target selected, I do that when I get all excited lol.

So I attempted a bunch of runs this morning and they were for the most part, very frustrating. Too fast for orbital cruise, too fast for glide, smash into the mailslot at the start, be on track for my best time only to completely mess up the entry into the final station (see video for the full horror), too fast for glide, improvement. It was painful and the most annoying thing was that on my last run the jump away from Grand Willow Range, which was clear an hour earlier had since become obscured, just. Which cost me 16 seconds.

Still knowing the importance of every second in races my final time was still a small improvement, so worth submitting. All but one of these are just from today.

A huge thanks to Edelgard for hosting this race it's been really good fun. It's been nice to run a regulation class where you really had to push the fuel scooping too. Normally it's just there as a token to help you get around, but with the reduced fuel tank and a couple of stops where you couldn't refuel, means you had to push things quite hard to get around without losing any time.

Managed to squeeze in just one more unlimited run. It was ugly as sin - got turned 180 clipping a mailslot on the way out, overestimated the DBX's ability the slow down in SC several times after getting used to the DBS (resulting in loops of shame), managed to black out during my Wagner decent and slid around far too much on the final Atkov landing. So not the 17:52 I would have hoped for, but a small improvement nevertheless and you never know what might make the difference, especially in this race it would seem.

Fingers crossed for the final results ... best wishes to those still racing and otherwise, see you on the other side of the final scores Cmdrs!

Thanks for an awesome and utterly nerve wracking race Edelgard!
