Console Profile Copy Process - Live Now!

Pondering doing a copy sometime to at least see the upcoming content, now that 6000-series cards have some official support on the way. I'm guessing the process is a lot faster now than on launch day, can anyone confirm this?
It was fast enough 3 days after launch too...
My transfer took like 20-30 minutes or so

But be advised the latest 6000 series drivers, while no longer hard crashing the client, still have some issues with a certain shader that apparently is inducing some color issues on atmo planets (but it's correctable using shader manipulation tools for the ones willing to go the extra mile)

The important part is that they are finally putting the legwork in, so hopefully there should be something a few revisions down the line that works.

Well, it seems to be a really smooth process, nice job, respects to the team who implemented this.

So FPS drops from 140 to 90 in Horizons 4.0 and DEAR GODS it is dark outside the ship. Like, turning up gamma to max doesn't let me see the details on the planet I am orbiting on the light side of that look fine in 3.8 but makes the light reflecting off my ship's dashboard burn my eyes out dark. Won't be using this for much, but might at least check out the fireworks from a distance once the bubble gets invaded.

Huh. so we hit on a snag. We copied my partner's account first (who owns a separate copy of ED on their own XBox) and then when we saw it was working fine and had tested everything we went to do mine.

But I got the dreaded

First time it seemed like a simple error, it had autofilled the destination account with the wrong one of us' email address. so I went back, relogged in and changed that to my primary email. But no joy. Name choice doesn't affect it either. Just database errors all the way down. Any recommended workaround or do I need to contact support to figure what the error is? I even tried logging in via a different browser (Although firefox was fine for the first transfer)

for all I know it could be something as simple as them putting in a safety feature that blocks you doing it if you haven't decommissioned your carrier or something (I didn't since I have tens of billions of credits, so don't care about duping the carrier's value, and want to have two carriers to keep one in the bubble and one in colonia)

Nah, it's not related to carrier decommissioning.
I didnt decommission mine either - having more than 40bn on that account, i didnt want to go through the hassle of decommission process - got no error message.

Just make sure you dont have your Console account logged in the game when transferring the account and also careful with the source account, destination account, cmdr name (maybe the cmdr name is already taken on PC?) - i opted for a new cmdr name cause i didnt want to have 2 northpin accounts :D

Oh no, I logged out and shut the game down before beginning the transfer. that's an obvious precaution. It said the name I wanted was available, and thatw as the first thing I tested by changing it to another one which likewise said it was available. Same database error. I actually tested that by subsequently trying picking a name I know for a fact was taken and that explicitly gave me a message saying the name is in use, so I would be getting that on either of the names I tried if they were unavailable.

Hopefully Customer Support should be able to sort it for you. It was a pain when I transferred my main, though my alt was near seamless a couple of days later.

Yeah, we had one seamless transfer, and that made me comfortable to do mine, which naturally was when it fell on its face, because such is the nature of the universe, right?
Thankfully we can still play together on our XBoxes for now.

I think I've covered all the bases in my support ticket by detailing every step I took as well as stuff like sending them the XBox receipts for both purchases of Elite Dangerous (Had to spend 15 minutes on a call to Microsoft tech support for mine since it's the old "Commander Deluxe Edition" from back in the day - and purchases older than 4 years ago don't show up in your Microsoft purchase history) in case the transfer is screwing up on recognising which copy is registered to which XBox account, since we both play the game on both XBoxes.

Well, I finally got a reply just now from someone who had clearly not read anything written in my support ticket, and suggested the problem was with things I had already clearly explained I had tested and eliminated as possible causes.
They suggested it was because I was using the wrong source XBox account (wut? I only have the one XBox account and the transfer screen showed all my correct details on the page)

So I have emailed back restating everything again so hopefully they won't skim past it this time.
Guessing I won't be playing on PC tonight though since the email was sent at quarter past five, so I imagine nobody will read my response until tomorrow.

I already have a PC account is there a way I can give my assets to my PC account? This whole Legacy thing is incredibly frustrating.

I would think so and I recommend you do the transfer this week because when they bring back the option it will be kind of different. (Also according to Obsidian)

But my OLD PC account has higher rank than my console account. It seems that in order to "merge" my assets I have to delete my old PC commander. What if I want to use my PC commander's name is this possible?

So if the accounts get "merged" do I keep my highest ranks, money gets added together, all my ships get added to my fleet, my planet permits get added to my PC account, and my skins and kits get added to my current set?

Like this is incredibly frustrating, I PAID for both my console game and my PC game. Getting Odyssey is not a problem. The problem is that I AGAIN for the THIRD time have to GRIND TIME consuming events. Not to mention the frustration that I was now getting used to the idea that I could have a commander out in the void and another back in the bubble (though this is the least of my concerns, I am ok with being in one spot).

All that stuff is supposed to carry over..
