Elite Dangerous Update 14 Release Schedule

Well this is different:

This is the first time that the Steam version has offered an upgrade button from within the launcher, so maybe Frontier has done the logical thing and removed the game files from Steam itself. I will miss Steam's faster download speeds, but at least I can keep playing LH without needing to install an additional 50GB of game files.

Now if only that button actually worked, LOL.

To anyone having trouble with the Frontier client, and the "your client needs to be updated" loop -- try going into your Frontier account, search your downloadable items, and downloading the client from there. That seems to have done the trick for me, and it's updating my game right now.

It's the ghost of "legacy" mode hanging on for dear life!! 😯😂

Indeed people are joking about the "legacy" systems holding on more than expected and at this stage, I half think (and more hope) the that or something similar is the case!

Partly I'm expecting an announcement that the games' network codes was stronger than expected and they can't cut the "legacy" systems off from Galnet and CGs without knocking all versions of the game offline or maybe even more so, that they were reading their contracts with Sony and Mirsosoft and they're not allowed to cut us off at such short notice, not without giving us our own Galnet, CGs etc and equivalents and or adding a significant amount of new content to "legacy" mode to make up for their loss!

Which would see us all playing together at least until update 15, anyway, only time will tell! 😯😂😀🤘🤞

finally founds the source of all the 1 star reviews 😂
Aye, I'm sure there's a Yelp out there for every garbage app with an aversion to MS certs that likely requires some level of clearance to access. Maybe someday tax-payer money will be spent on quality product instead of chucking it at the first lesser experienced schmuck who promises they can make it happen for pennies on the dollar. They're not putting contracts on bid to the best and brightest for this stuff because they cost too much.

Mod hat off:
No it's doesn't. Not from what I've seen and I've been around several years. No one thinks they are incompetent or unprofessional due to pushing an update a few hours. If you want the best version of a game people can wait, and i'm sure they don't mind doing so.
Although they are perhaps too strong for the issue. Frustratingly sub-optimal is probably reasonable. It has always been, and always will be preferable to the average impatient userbase volume to bake in significant leeway time than it is to push back releases through delays and give any reason for grumbles. It's managing expectations 101.

With that said, some more ahem veteran ahem among us, expect to troll game forums and watch the bits fly for the first 24 hours following a major update. It's (sadly) just the done thing nowadays.
