I’m currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR curtesy of a lone modder’s work - who has also pumped out VR mods for several other games like GTA5, RDR2, Elden Ring, and HZD.
One of the rendering methods that can be selected is a non-stereoscopic mode, which still keeps complete surround-o-vision and 6 DoF movement but at a much more performance friendly level and without any stomach-lurching moments when forced movement occurs (for me, at least). Obviously you don’t get any depth perception but it still seems a bit 3D while playing due to my brain doing its compensation - the real world doesn’t stop being 3D if you close one eye, for example.
I think this would be a good fit for VREDO - the periscope view is extended beyond our peripheral vision, the HUD is shrunk to remain in our view, and headlook/aiming is linked to our headsets. But…it would need at least
some dev time, and looking at the amount of outstanding VR issues that have been fixed since Odyssey released I think that time is in
very short supply
