Update 14, nowhere near enough.

What do you people want? Probably the single largest addition in years, and you're not happy.

If you are looking for on foot content, odyssey's payouts for exobiology increased 25 fold. Try that.
Is that a joke or are you serious? money is not important. we have billions. New gameplay is missing here. we just got few new scenarios based on the existing gameplay.

Big swirley maelstrom thing.
Lots of gameplay for ppl who like that kinda thing in many varieties.
New narrative for another chapter of the story.
Things to investigate, shoot, new environment, new ship and other things things to work out.
This doesn't even mention those who will try to work ouj where the others are going, what their plans may be and other creative thinking.
Fixes, improvements etc.
So, nothing was added, or is it that they didn't add what you wanted?
Kinda hard for them to tell when all you do is profess doom!
Maelstrom is new but at the moment does not involve any gameplay. However it is fun and reminds me the old days when we were discovering new stuff.
Lots of new scenarios based on existing gameplay - no new gameplay.
No new ships, weapons.
no new on foot gameplay.
generally, it was a narrative gameplay as the previous one. We were promised new gameplay.

People who always demand new ships, new weapons, and new gameplay will never be satisfied, because today's new gameplay and today's new ship is tomorrow's old gameplay and ships. If 27 ships is not enough, how will 30 ships satisfy you? If the dozens of different gameloops per career isn't enough, how will one more make you happy? You can trade, pirate, fight wars, mine valuable metals, bus passengers, rescue people from burning stations, hunt other pirates, work for factions, work for player groups, and dozens of other things in this game already. What else do you want? Maybe if Elite added a dishwashing gameloop, would that make you happy?

That's not to say that the gameloops already in Elite don't have room for improvement. I'd love to see all the half-baked gameplay features be fully finished and polished like fine Japanese cutlery. In fact, I'd much rather see this than yet another ship or weapon added to the game.

If you want new gameplay, buy a new game. I have plenty I can recommend you if you'd like.

The thing with a realtime narrative is you can't drop solutions to problems before they're written in. If they did, it would probably telegraph the story.
These things will probably come, IMO.

well, maybe if they have changed something since this morning, yesterday was nothing new there.
Have you been investigating the Maelstrom? gabbing the new materials? done any of the new settlement AX combat, New rescue missions? Seen new Goid variants?

You just answered your own question. This is a live service game a new content as ships weapons, suits and so on should come on regular basis. the moment it stops the game becomes old as you mentioned and start losing players. Otherwise, you play for some hours as most games until you reach endgame and you move to another game. This is the difference with life service games.

Yep. Done all of it already. defended several planetary stations and few space stations. got almost 200 mil in thargoid bonds (considering I am not a dedicated AX pilot). I admit it was a lot of fun. Destroyed handful of ships inside the maelstrom. even engaged into fight with medusa inside and died of course. The new stuff i am doing is to scavenge the abandoned settlements on planets controlled by thargoids. turning on the power and scavenging what I can. it is a challenge but would like to have some patrolling on foot thargoids and probably npc scavengers for additional challenge and fun. As I said all this is fun but not really new gameplay. Just fun new scenarios using the existing gameplay apart of the maelstrom.

While I would like new ships & weapons, how does that equals new gameplay? We'll still be playing the existing game loops, just with different tools.

So lots of new stuff then

until you reach endgame
There is no end game here (y)

New scenarios using the old gameplay. And yes, it is not suppose to have end game but for that new things should come constantly.
You can't expect new things without paying for them. True live service games offer a subscription model to support the constant flow of "new things".

I agree. My worries are that we were telling the same story for update 14. It wll probably come with the 14 just wait... and so on and so on.
None of us really know what the future holds but i suspect this is just the beginning and it will evolve and add new things over time. There's a lot i can think of them doing with it.
I can also see the thargoids hanging around for quite some time, or at least i hope so... so i'm quite optimistic about things.

I think I'm beginning to see a pattern here. All new gameplay is new until he experiences it. Then it immediately becomes old gameplay and he'll ask for the next new gameplay to satiate his hunger for new gameplay.

That's a normal thing in all games. New game comes, you play it, get amazed by new things, have fun doing them, after some time you know the game inside out, then you uninstall it because it bores you. It's a normal course of how games work, you haven't really discovered anything new. If you plan to keep the game alive, it needs new stuff. No one likes to do same things over and over for 6000 hours. Except hardcore ED players. Seriously, y'all insane, I have over 1k hrs and pretty much just kill time, not really enjoy it in ED, already seen and done everything there is to be 500x over, how on Earth anyone manages to rack over 6k hours while keeping his sanity? It sounds like some sort of autism, a need for same things over and over to keep a safe space. Every successful game has to evolve and grow, if you don't add new things (doing same things and calling it new names doesn't count), it will die.
