Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

That's the entire reason I got them. Everything I had read had said not to bother with them, but when I read about the caustic resistance I wondered why on earth you wouldn't use them against Scouts.

Once I got them put on, and I shoehorned in as many as I could, I was stunned at how much tougher the ship was. I was still hearing the "Warning! Incoming Caustic Attack" all the time, but I would check and my shields were still up around 70 and my hull, although infected with the stuff, was sitting at 99 and not moving. A few kills later, roughly 4 or 5 minutes or so, it was at 98.

Before, on standard stuff, I would be able to watch the hull go down 99...98...97...96...

Typically, my hull would get down to the low 90's or high 80's before I could just get out in the open to launch a limpet on the regular stuff. With the Guardian equipment I can keep fighting for 5 or 8 minutes and it doesn't get that low.
I think the AX initiative and others have missed a trick in not using these. Looking forward to trying them next week. I only need a module blueprint and some reinforced mounting plate or something I can buy. It won't take long.

I'm considering building a ship that I actually never had before, being an all purpose ship. Like if the Thargoids, by the help of their AI manages to somehow blow up the Bubble, and I could only escape in one ship, which one would it be, and how would I equip it. Kind of "prepping" I guess.

I love my Mamba, but I'll need more room. The obvious choice would be the Conda, and I really like that ship, but... meh... I could get a Vette instead, with even more room, and it can almost turn. Those ships are not very handy on planets with rough terrain, so maybe something smaller. Then again, I will need mining equipment, and possibly passenger cabins, guns and hull and shields and a cold power plant and heat sinks (a lot) and...

Interesting challenge :alien:

It probably was not as effective in the beginning and the entrance hurdle too high for those who wanted the quick entrance into AX combat. They had a lot of success with their builds, so far. Or so it seems. That they have to waste those size 5+ slots for limpet controllers tells a lot, in my eyes.

THIS JUST IN

There's a snowflake paint job. Maybe it's every christmas - don't know. But the point is: I'm here to tell you, that is one poppin fresh paint job. It's not on sale, though, but supplies MAY be limited.

Like, your ideal desert island space ship!

"If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have ONE spaceship..."

I think it's new. Very festive, too :)

Python or Krait MKII - if I could only have one ship - Krait MKII

Imperial Cutter, tbh. If it's going to be me, alone in the black, I want space to walk around a bit. It's a bit large for landing on rough terrain, but it fits everything you need and still has space for more.

And at least it looks like a frikking dragon. That coolness factor would keep me going long after I'd have dived a krait into a star 😹

I was wondering, does the prismatic shield cut the mustard against Thargoids?
Or are shields in general of less importance against them?
If you fit a shield at all, a fast recovering and charging biweave is the way to go. Prismatics are the opposite of that. Unless your fighting with a serious shield tank like a Corvette or Cutter, your shield will go down in the fight.
I'm not skilled at doing it, but I get the logic of cold orbiting and no shields.

Citizen Kate won't use shields

There are variants of these for free as drops in the Frontier Twitch live streams. Some also from streamers:

The Guardian ruins were in daylight for me today. It was very eerie and atmospheric. It's been some years since I was out here.

The Sentinels were happy to see me return. They kept popping up to greet me and give me materials :)

I've unlocked the Guardian Hull Reinforcements, now to fit them on the ship and try them out.

Hanging out in the Awara system, currently at Thargoid alert.
Can not disembark at stations and cannot set FC destination to this system.
So, set it one system out. For quick run away mode when needed.
Pick pocketing Thargoid sensors from various signal sources.
With a the cold phantom Rune Lon Gon, 12% cold.... (y)
Not here to fight, just looking around.

edit : Dam, just got goid dicted jumping back into Awara from HR 1613, rebuy dam it...

Yes, those 'goids are aggressive. Like an angered colony of hornets with a grudge.

They're too much for me I'm afraid so I'll be avoiding those areas,

boost and run boost and run and jump away....
Now fitted the Xeno limpet multi controller, very useful, and another collector controller.
Following in on the green axi ships as different types of goids appear in the combat aftermath signals.
Trying to get close enough to xeno scan them, I don't know why , just a bit o'fun.
I might fit a weapon that does not compromise the heat profile to much.??

A half hour sortie outside Ampere Dock this morning with AX multi cannons proved a few things to me.

There is nothing wrong with AX Multi cannons against Thargoid Scouts. They are at least as effective as they have ever been and quickly exerted the heart of an Interceptor that arrived. For some reason taking a xeno scan of the Interceptor did not bring up sub-targets. I was going to try and hit the heart with AX mutli cannons.

The Chieftains fast turn rate more than compensates for the fact I can only fit 2 x Large AX Multi cannons and 1 x medium compared to the Krait MKII with 3 x Large and 1 x medium.

I also heard CMDR Rupee Noone on the system radio announcing something about "top 1% of liners out there". I guess thrill seeking tourists want tours of Thargoid conflict zones now... :ROFLMAO:
