war is not funny in that way.

i Tryed a rescure Mission ..i was killed 2 Times ..Lost a lot of money ...There is no Fun anymore ....i think Frontier tryes to Clean the Bubble and in the end Shut down the servers .Becouse the Game runs already to long .... I realy tryed something ,,but now i go realy exploring wth a good Package so i can repair my ship on my own and can wait till this ..sh..t Story is over ..

Then just don't go there ! The bubble is big enough, plenty to do in other regions...

Herre gud...
Hey i agree, but how did he might know that? Elite is known for not telling you anything. There is no big popup saying "you are lvl 10 and goblins in that cave are way above your lvl, do you still wish to enter?". All you have is information there is war there. And the war is clearly advertised in the new intro, so everyone want's to see it.

I've done rescue missions to both on ground and in space stations with a dolphin and then with a new orca. It seems safe as can be, hyper/interdicted then pop a heatsink and boost, maybe pop another one and then high/low wake, close to the station then pop a heatsink, request landing permission, and land. Safe as can be...

OK, both ships are quite heavily engineered but I bet the important part is the speed (for outrunning), temp for being harder to detect, and jump range to cut down on the number of jumps needed. A shield helps, but I hardly even get tickled running these missions. Seems like most of the rest in elite, just dangerous when you are ignorant of what to do, or you mess up the execution..

Edit: or you are in an unengineered ship, as the right ship properly engineered generally helps :D

I think you have to realise that thargoid combat, scout or interceptor, IS the current "end-game" content and is not meant to be attempted by cmdrs who do not research and invest in the basic equipment needed for such content. There is a reason why the meta is the meta and you can't just go fighting thargoids with just your x8 Shield Booster Shield Tank ship that steamrolls any other NPC combat.

You need to learn the mechanics of thargoid combat, their phasing, corrosive damage, what happens when they die, why they shoot missiles, etc.

i tried to battle with thargoids. and entering system. the engins and systems directly shutdown by thargoids and ship explode. that makes no fun to fight against the thargoids. and i hat 4 enymies directly. dear

Fd team. play the war stuff by urself. and have fun. but i think a legacy server with ody includes is badly missing. i do not like the war stuff with dead systems after all. it is boring

elite was dangoures before update 14. but no it is useless . or uninteresting.

Thargoid combat is NOT for new players.
Is sort of end-game combat, for the skilled and for the well equipped

Another thing to ponder about - why would FDev want to go along with a long term narrative aimed (presumably) ONLY at veteran combat players?

Indeed... Wise words, if one is serious about the challenge that would be the best approach.

I just jump in and kill them, or get blown up trying...
...but I am truly a filthy casual and just do AX combat for fun.

War is neither funny nor fair. This is a game and it is entertainment. However, if you look at it as a social experiment it is interesting. First of all people want to join the war, without having any idea of the consequences, mainly because they expect the game to be fair. If the game should reflect RL, then I find that pretty realistic.

Secondly, it seems that the old saying, that "Nothing unites humans like a common enemy", is true. Both in the game and here on the forum.

War is never funny IRL. Why should it be when it is simulated?

i have only a alliance crusader. or anaconda. both not engineered
If you don't have an endgame ship (and at least a bit of experience), don't be surprised if you're killed when playing endgame content.

Engineering will make surviving (first) and killing (second) Thargoids easier. Not automatic - you'll still need a dose of Kenny Rogers. Until you achieve that - stay out of the warzone. If you want to aid the war effort, there are other tasks you can help with. If not, then also in Odyssey there (still - which is about to change) are enough systems and areas (both in space as well as in gameplay) where you won't encounter Thargoids and can build your ships and expertise until you are ready to do so.
