I still wsnt the Black swan as well for realism purposes.not to derail this entirely into commentary about Oceania, but it seems from many of the comments, there's primarily 3 habitat animals many would like to see - the Tasmanian Devil, a Kiwi and a Tree Kangaroo of course. I think if Frontier added those 3 in, about 90% of us would be content with Oceanian representation.
i would add the perentie and the black swan for australia, and the scarlet ibis, roseate spoonbill and green anaconda por SA.It’s pretty good. I had no idea that I am going to like emu so muchthey have such a great animation in the game.
Right now I miss only:
And Australia would be complete
- Echidna
- any different wallaby like Yellow footed rock wallaby
- Tassie
- Tree kangaroo
- Kiwi for our New Zealand community
It’s amazing how many times we’ve said that the most underrepresented regions are SA Australia and Middle East and in the latest dlc we’ve received 2 species from each of those regions
Now it’s time to fill South America. We need:
Middle East still would benefit from:
- Monkeys: howler, spider
- Spectacled bear
- wild camelid: Vicuña or Guanaco
- any Sloth
- South American Coati
- Kinkajou
- Ocelot
- Tamandua
- any Peccary
- Mara
- Rhea
- Jabiru
- Southern pudu
- Bush dog
- Hamadryas baboon
- Honey badger
- Barbary sheep
- Porcupine
- Dromedary camel
- Arabian oryx
- Jackal
- Wild donkey - preferably Somali
- Sand cat
- Common genet
- not from Middle East but also North African desert - Addax and Dama gazelle
Understandable. I'd like to think Aquatic birds like the Swan or Pelican would be able to be added in as habitat animals...I'd like to see both (not necessarily Oceanian representatives).I still wsnt the Black swan as well for realism purposes.
I know i said exhibit but....Asia on the exhibit map is still pathetic as allways
There are so many species that we still miss from there but I think that the most important now are:South America is getting better, the base game habitat map was ridiculous considering it has the most biodiverse region in the world (Amazon jungle)
Actually an Amazon's Animal Pack sounds really good to improve South America fauna, but at least a Rainforest's Animal Pack with 50% of animals from Amazon jungle would be very satisfying
It was a smart thing. It's interesting how Planet Zoo base game hyper focused on a Ultra Safari-Tarzan theme zoo + just few of most famous charismatic world mega fauna like tigers, bears and wolfs but all the other continents were "strangely" empty
Yeah, I think one the main reasons is about marketing and profit 'cause Frontier could make a base game with a more regular selection of the world fauna like Zoo Tycoon 1 & 2, but Zoo Tycoon was from a docile age of video games when the game industry used to be less agressive about profit, with less constantly DLCs, without micro transactions and season's pass. Luckily Planet Zoo doesn't have those last two garbages I mentioned. It was a smart thing.
Instead of giving a shallow roster like Asia got to everybody, the gave asia a shallow one with some key species, only keyspecies + pronghorn for northamerica and one of the most marketable animal that can spawn an easy clone and the bairds tapir for south america, for some reason, while giving all the depth and star treatment to africa, all eggs in one basket, a smart move for multiple reasons:
Want an NA zone? Guess you better gotta buy the NA animal pack
- with just about 50 habitat animals, an actual ballanced roster would have been much harder to achieve without being predictable. To standout, while most of the abc zoo animals were included there are also many weirder species like the hyena, painted dogs, aardvarks and about half the typical zoo antelopes
- having one deep region allready means alot of natural customisation which shows of an ideal version of the game
- antelopes were almost a 1/5 of the base game roster, african ungulates in general even more. Besides the upper point, they also propaply were quite easy to make from each other, saving some time
- idk how much conspiracy this one is, but theirs a quite reasonable theory that planet zoo was planet safari at first, with the assets for african animals allready being numerous for that region
- Asia and North America showed that regions can still get greatly fleshed out, which makes for natural Marketing.
What would you put in an amazon animal pack?South America is getting better, the base game habitat map was ridiculous considering it has the most biodiverse region in the world (Amazon jungle)

All maps updated, thanks to @nutrit for all the work!!
Australia is gorgeous now

I think the emu's fine where it is, they live in that region and it's unlikely we're going to get more species from far western Australia.Note: Emu should be a lot further east (just south-east of the kangaroo)

The position is meant to show the center, but the map also needs tk be balsnced. Many people here and on reddit complained that we need more north asian animals because of how elpty it looks on the map, despite the fact we have like 12 animals from that region, they just happen to be placed in europe and north america on the map. So both sides have a valid argument. They do, but the core of their range is in the east - if the position is meant to show the centre of their range they should be further east.
