Spring dlc Speculation 2023

I don't think they would throw a domesticated animal in with a pack like this tbh. That would be in it's own themed pack, otherwise, it just feels really awkward. Like the llama is a unique case (which again, feels really awkward) but I also don't think they really realized that llamas are not the wild species as well (read: there is a difference) and so they went for the domestic one over the wild one. Like, they could have used the domestic water buffalo which arguably would have made more sense, but they chose the wild form rather than use a domestic one. Just my 2 cents.
Tbh i bet they choose the lama for what ut is, an insanly common petting zoo animal with strong ties to southamerican cultures, but the undeserved backlash on the forums made them make the buffalo wild instead of domestic, cause so many people here just seem to hate domestics.
Which was as most people can agree a stupid decision.
This unnessecary and undeserved bad mouthing domestics get quite literally let the developers make a dumb decision.
Also its the brittish islands, so putting arguably the most iconic and appealing animal from the in the game just makes sense, even though the shetland pony arguably makes even more

I love how people repeatedly put the manatee in speculation threads and act as if it wouldn't need an entire new habitat system which would be as complex implementing as aviaries.

They could do it, Frontier always surprises, but I'd expect a dedicated marine pack at the very least if they ever were to implement such a thing.
Nah, there's a reason why it included. The hurdle to cross for animals like manatees is essentially having swimming staff members and a way to add a gate to a full on water habitat with no land. Those hurdles are a hell of a lot smaller than the complexity aviaries bring.

Also islands pack discussion?
My two cents for a very diverse pack would be:

Fossa: Pretty much a must have animal, iconic to one of the most iconic islands it fits right in while bringing something taxonomically unique to the game and gameplay wise unique to both madagascar and africa sections alike

Treekangaroo: New Guinea is the second largest island and this might be its most iconic animal. Also very unique as an arboreal macropod with very unique climbing animations, unable to be achieved by modders so far.

Hawaiian Goose: The hawaiian islands are amongst the most well known islands in the world and this conservation success story would be not only a great and common representative, but also our first waterfowl in the game

Musk Ox: Found among many arctic islands, an island pack seems like the best bet to get these guys. They would add something very unique to the game in both looks and taxon, as our 3. And first not goat looking goat. They would also nearly complete our arctic sections.

Domestic Cannary (WE): From the north western coast of africa these colorful finches have their origin on the Macronesian Islands in the Atlantic.
Colorfull and small they would fit our current WE system really well.

That would be imo a very solid scenery pack, but animal speculation is more fun then scenery so here are 3 more animals for an animal pack

Shetland Pony: The most common domestic equine in zoos, this breed is quite iconic. Breeded originally as a mine pony on the shetland isles north of scottland they have spread across the entire world and into most petting zoos. I choose it over the highland cattle, as the pony has a much more fierce rival for a spot in a petting zoo pack, the domestic donkey.

Little Blue Penguin: Theres a surprising lack of aquatic animals so far, but an islands pack really needs atleast one diver and what would be more perfect then a penguin?
The little blue penguin is found among all of southern oceania and look very distinct to our 2 ingame penguins and act very different to all the other oceanian animals in the game on a gameplay side.

Sulawesi Crested Macaque: We need monkeys and we got no animal from indonesia so far in the pack, so these delightfull smiling black macaques fit right in. They look very unique in face and body structure and would give us something to nicly pair with the babirusa

And thats my hot take for an island pack with no more then 1 animal per island and every continent besides south america (sorry south america) gaining something.
I didnt include the devil or the kiwi as they got quite the good chances to come in other packs due to theur popularity and are rare in captivity.
They also simply lost against the most important madagascar addition, the most unique macropod, our first waterfowl from an iconic island group, our second to last missing arctic animal, one of the most common and important domestics, an aquatic animsl covering both of their islands and more and a monkey.
They might be popular, but at the same time very niche, which makes me prioritise other "more important" animals in my opinion that cant just have a pack made around them like these two can.

Pretty cool pack, but i think if frontier releases a islands pack in spring and there is no devil included people are gonna riot 😂

Kinda funny how people still act like animals must conform exclusively to a pack's theme... I mean, we just got a grassland pack where half the animals had people going "those are desert animals!"

Talking about islands pack, the biggest curveball Frontier could throw is adding the Dromedary in such a pack since they were introduced on the Canary Islands on the 15 century :ROFLMAO:

I would lol. I understand König's intentions, but the devil being shafted yet again ("they're saving it as a future headliner!!!") from a pack as well-fitting as Islands would just be plain frustrating.
Its not even the saving part, it just gets straight up outcompeted by animals that cant just pop out at random where ever frontier pleases.
The devil could appear easily in a nocturnal, temperate, endangerd/survivor/whst ever new name for conservation 2., oceania and really they could just make something devil specific like a movie icon pack or whatever and the devil will make it sell.
Cant say that about the other animals i included

Movie icon pack hmmmm
  • Coyote (the bugs bunny/road runner movie)
  • Roadrunner (same as above)
  • Tasmanian devil (space jam)
  • White tailed deer (Bambi)
  • Spectatled bear (paddington)
  • Barbary lion (lion king - scar is a Barbary lion)
  • Some kind of sloth (ice age)
  • Some kind of mouse for exhibit (Stuart little)

This is true for many highly requested animals though, just look at the capybara - it could have easily come in a rainforest, tropical, Amazon or other DLC, but instead took the place of countless other freshwater animals in the Wetlands Animal Pack. Besides, all of the animals you listed besides the nene and maybe the musk ox could easily come in other packs (especially the fossa and tree kangaroo, who are both about as popular as the kiwi and could also easily headline other packs).

It's your personal preferred roster in the end, I would just be disappointed in a roster like that myself (even if I'd love the nene, tree kangaroo, fossa and penguin).

how the heck is scar a barbary lion when mufasa is not? :D Pretty sure he got the black mane to make him look villanous

I would buy this, actually

I know is late, but i will give my personal opinion of every animal from grasslands animal pack (why not?)

-Nine Banded Armadillo: 10/10
This animal is P E R F E C T in every aspect. Animations, quality, everything. And is an American introduction, so i love it.

-Maned Wolf: 9/10
I do not like canines, but the maned wolf can be my favourite. So cool animations and a South American representation.

-Emu: 10/10
A needed animal in the game. They are in my local zoo and it´s quality is incredible. Possibly my favourite animal from the pack

-Red-Necked Wallaby: 8/10
This is a very solid pick. Even if they are in my local zoo, i will always see them as the small cousin of the kangaroos, very well made in the game

-Striped Hyena: 8/10
A zoo tycoon 2 species, very cool to have. I don´t like too much hyenas, possibly this species is my favourite

-Blue Wildebeest: 8/10
Even having better choices, this was very ok. It´s quality is incredible, so i like it very much

-Caracal: 3/10
I don´t like caracals (except god Floppa, of course), and in the game, for me, its sounds are a mix of the jaguar and the lynx.I cannot stop seeing the lynx animations and model in it, and is a very rare animal in my point of view, I will never use this animal in my parks.

-Butterflies: 9/10
It seems like the flying WE animals are coming in mass, and now 5 more. This insects are incredible, so well made and very beautiful

@Nausicaaa mershi Draqui I always wonder why does the zoo have the emu and wallaby in the Asia area of the park 🤔
Probably is just a small Oceania section. Near are the siamangs, indian rhinos and golden pheasants, but that small praire zone with a small Oceania section i always love it when i go 😄
